Monkey listens to your whistles while on your back, so you can "attack my target' and it will start flinging poop. Doesn't do much damage, but its a good alert system too, and if you play in third person, tells you which way to face.
but yea, the number one use is a backpack, as currently their weight isn't added to yours when they ride you.
personally, im not relying on this for another patch or two, as I suspect it will change and was an oversight; considering your own weight is indeed added to any mount You ride... but, if its all clear in a week or so from now; I will have a Many of backpack monkeys in my house.
I haven't tried putting a mining helmet on it yet; not sure if they would make a decent movable 'lantern' with this. maybe someone else can comment on the usefulness (or lack there of) of a monkey with a light on its head.
ehh?
Monkey with latern on head is cute, but not really useful, they move their head around with no regard to what you're looking at, I've been leaving mine in our outposts on aggressive so if people break into our mining camps or taming base or something similar we can actually respond instead of them just thinking they are "offline raiding" a base with no repurcussions. They are fairly strong in numbers too if you take the time to lvl them up (they do have a melee attack) enough that a group of 4 or 5 can be a bother to player in stock flak if they are decent lvls. Still playing with them and their bigger counterparts, which are awesome as knockback bouncers :P
Congrats, you just revived a thread from september :D
