Is there a point to blood packs?
Especially with their astronomically long cooldown and the fact that cooked meat has no cooldown.

They heal you alot faster than eating cooked meat.

is it worth it though, I mean it's only 15 over 2 sec, and you can only use it every 40seconds, is that really better? Or is it just another method to restore health on the side of cooked meat?

Use em in conjuction with cooked meat, We only keep bloodpacks at our mountain base for when hypothermia sets in, in a combat situation I wouldn't rely on them at all though with the crazy long cooldown like you said.

after testing I noticed cooked meat doesn't really heal you if you're not hungry. Hmmm

Makes sense, thank you!

Cooked meat really only replaces food with slowly replaces health. The packs you mention give a quick boost to actual health.

Is it worth it is up to you feeling the time spent is worth it.

So from what I've seen, cooked meat heals you about just as fast but can't heal you if you're full on hunger, if you're full on hunger blood pack will still heal you. I haven't tested it but I'm assuming Medical Brew is the way to go for healing in combat.

They're not worth it anymore. They nerfed them to a point of being useless, and haven't updated them since. They need a much lower cooldown time. 15 points healed that you can use only once every 40 seconds makes little to no sense to bother carrying.

There is still the medical brew, though, which is quite easy to make and works just as well as the old blood bags. Make medical brew.

They were way overpowered before they spoiled and had a cooldown, but I think they went way overboard nerfing them.
removing the cooldown would make it alright I guess, since they spoil so quick in your inventory you won't be able to carry like 50 of them and just chug them like you used to since they'd all spoil before you need them.

But yeah I haven't used or made a single blood pack since they nerfed them, completely useless now.
At least high HP builds have a point now though, my friend went for like 500hp build and I was just as tanky as him with 150hp because I could just chug bloodpacks that he made for me nonstop.
Now I have to play it smarter while he can still run in there taking hits and not give a ♥♥♥♥.

yup removing cooldown is way to go otherwise who really uses them bloodpacks anymore?

I say they should lower the cooldown, they added the cooldown in the first place for a reason, originally it had no CD. But it should be like half the time it is now.

Why do people complain when somebody brings a post back? LUL This is still the first google result, so get over it.

I agree that the cooldown should be like 10 seconds or something of the sort. It'd make it way less effective than Medical Brews, but way better than the current.

Because people usually don't like getting a notification from a thread they posted in over 4 years ago for a game they may or may not still play.
While we're here though, I agree with the op. Back when there was no cooldown I would stock up on blood packs constantly and use it like a vampire when in a cave but then they added an absurdly long cooldown making them useless. 5 seconds would be a much better cooldown.

It's some kind of misfire of the human rule obeying system. You see the same thing on forums, people will ask you to post on a specific character, even when that would lend zero weight to your argument.

At this point administers have even encoded the error into Forum rules.

As to the topic, I'd definitely be interested in the math. Assuming one was hungry, would it give you 15% faster HP regeneration when one is using jerky? 20% when one is using cooking meat? 5% if one is using Brew? Interesting.
