Using pillars for prettier architecture
I've noticed a lot of people using pillars to give building exteriors more detail but if i try to place them before the wall then it says its obstructed or the wall first the the pillar says its obstructed, whats the trick?

Easiest way without going in to too much detail, is by placing them first before the wall. They can be placed on the corners of foundations or ceilings by first placing a fence foundation on the edge of said foundation or ceiling. This will create a snap point at the corners that you can place the pillars, removing the fence foundation afterwards and then placing the walls between them.

If you've already build your walls, you can do it in reverse, by placing a fence foundation on the ceiling you can then place a pillar on top. (The bottom half of pillars don't seem to be obstructed by walls.) Once the top pillar is placed, you can place extra pillars down the wall, removing the top one that is poking out and the fence post afterwards.

Hopefully I've made enough sense.

to place pillars on the sides or corners of a foundation or floor you need to snap fence foundations to the edge of the floors/foundation. the pillar snaps to 3 places on the fence foundation, both ends and the middle.....delete fence foundation if you want after you place pillar....easy

Thank you so much for this information. I knew it was possible but just couldn't make it work!

the pillar doesnt get destroyed when taking off the fence ???? how ?

It doesn't get removed when you remove the fence foundation because the foundation underneath it still supports it.
