Thatch 7.5 sec burn time, leaves nothing.
Wood 30 sec burn time, leaves charcoal which can be used to craft gunpowder and certain dyes.
Spark 1 minute burn time and leaves nothing.
Your choice.
With the fuel in the inventory, either face it and press E or access the inventory and below the forge inventory there is a menu item for turning on the forge.
Add resource (Metal ore, OR Hide+Oil)
Turn On forge by pressing the TURN ON button in its inventory OR pressing E while looking at the forge when it has fuel in it.
You need 2 metal ore to make 1 metal ingot and it takes time to refine.
You need 5 hide and 3 oil to make 5 gasoline and it take time to refine.
Make sure you have enough fuel in the forge for it to burn long enough to refine the metal or oil.
If you still cant figure it out from that and what others have already said then you are either trolling or not intelligent enough to play this game.
Put metal in, put fuel in, and turn it on = profit.
The F key allows you to access the inventory when facing it, the E key will make it turn on much like a campfire when it has fuel to burn (if there is no fuel E will do the same as F if not keeping it pressed down).
