Preserving bin?
Quick question.

So far Ive noticed that using a preserving bin, gives me about the same time of preserving foods then storing all my foods in a Trike.

Is it then worth building them? Or just store your foods in the dinos?

And If I am wromng, how much longer does the bin preserve the foods over storing them in Dinos?

It's exactly equivalent to Dinos in terms of spoiling time. The benefit of a preserving bin over Dinos is more that they will automatically eat from it, to save time of having to manage each Dinos' own Inventory of food :)

You have to have sparkpowder in the preserving bin, then it last´s longer than in your Dinos.
Don´t know the exact time/difference.
And you need a preserving bin for making jerky.

Edit: Oh i see, Drake already cleared this up, always thought PB lasts longer than dino inventory

I think it does give longer then a dino.. but it's still not a fridge. I use my with Spark Powder and Oil to make Jerky!! Mmmm all about the Jerky.

Wait. What?
I thought dinos extended the spoil timer by 4x, Preserv bin by 10x. (fridge by 100x)
The Preserv bin will extend by 4x without sparkpowder and 10x with sparkpowder? Is that right? I'm so confused now.

Or like the previous poster said Drake was meaning the feeding trough being 4x to match dinos.

Sorry, I meant Feeding Trough! Yeah the preserving bin goes much longer than Dinos.

Although the spoil time for storign food on a dino is the same as storign food in a feeding trough, a nice benefit of usign a feeding trough is that, unlike a dino, you can walk up to a feedign trough, open inventory, and click "transfer all items" and it will move all the food (plus a few other items like canteens and narcotics) into the trough but leave all the non-food items in yrou inventory. This is helpful if you go out on a run to get food for your dinos and don't want to either a.) take the time to put berries on some dinos, and meat on others, and b.) take the time to move 50 stacks of meat and berries out of your inventory one at a time.

This "transfer all items" trick also works nicely for getting meat (especially prime meat) from your inventory to an industrial grill quickly so you can cook it before it spoils.

Well correct me if im wrong, but if you put sparkpowder in the preserving bin and light it/turn it on whatever (if there is an option like the fridge) then it does preserve your meats longer than your dinos inventories do. Plus its the only way of making Jerky, which is needed for kibble, whitch is needed for taming dinos effectively, so there you go :)

Not every kibble needs Jerky and the sparkpowder has just to be in the inventory of the bin, no need to "switch" it on.
