Worth living in a Snow biome?
Thinking of building a giant base in the tundra. I mean, there are lots of crystals & oil there, the biome is beautiful too.

The only problem is the temperature...

You could build up fortitiude to live there. Other than that the fur armor will be fine.

I guess its possible with the fur armor, but prepare to take a lot of blood packs and stacks of food with you if you set a foot outside your door. Also air conditioner and fireplace in every room to be safe.

I'm living in the snow biome myself. I started a thread to see how much people put into fortitude so that they can live there. check it out if youre think about living there

I currently have 50 fortitude and full fur armor. I am normal most of the time but when temp dips bad i get cold still. And when blizzards hit I still freeze

I have 20 fortitude and fur armor, 90% of the time im fine - but sometimes with snow storms and night I do still take damage from freezing, but standing by a fire completely fixes that. Honestly Cold isn't an issue out there(if you're equiped). I personally don't care to leave the safety of my house to gather resources far from base at night anyway, it's too damn dark and dangerous.

reason i have 50 is because i like staying normal when everyone is freezing. you could get more done without having to take care of yourself

Currently camped in snow biome, not full fur clothing (working on it) and about 20 fortitude, it definately makes life mnore interesting.

A welcome sight after returning from a snowy hunt.

I would just build a farming shack since it would be rough to live their on your own.

Keep a set of armor and food and whatever you need stored up there and just fast travel when needed. Keep an argen or two up there so you can transport the goods, fly back to the snow, and fast travel back home.

At least, that's what I'm gonna do :D

:D Im planning to move to the snow biome aswell, but the only place i can find 'safe and ok' enough is the cave that i have completely lost where is :P just get your fur armor and maybe an extra if you get into a brutal fight with direwolfs ( my fur armor couldnt handle two direwolfs :( ) and a campfire, it works for me!

What an excellent idea! I absolutely love what you did with your creativity.
I'll try to make something similar to it in my new home :)

I live in the snow biome I have full fur armor and my fortitude is 42.0 and my hypothermic insulation is usually around 400 - 500 and I don't even get cold.

good thing is now though we have the new fur armor we have access to much better gear than they did

My main base is on the west coast just south of the snow biome. I stay warm and can get to the snow resources which are practically right there..

takes all the fun out of it :P as much as i get pissed at dying from freezing my balls off. i also enjoy it just as much overcoming the region and flying/walking/sailing away with phats lootz :)

A bit of a necro but since a lot of people have trouble with the winter event:

All you need is 10 fortitude + fur armor to survive anywhere cold. You still will see the frost message, but not the ice cube. 20 fortitude makes it amazing.

If you can't afford fur armor yet, use hide armor + 20 fortitude. Makes living anywhere cold very manageable with some extra meat cooked.

Once you get the fireplace it's GG.
