Stupid questions about the Direwolf.

1 Are the alpha's out yet? Ive killed at least a hundred wolves without seeing anything listed as an alpha wolf.

2 The pack bonus, is that a thing yet? Ive only managed to get 2 female wolves so far and have not seen any "pack bonus" unless im blind or stupid.

3 is it just me or do these guys seem a tad weak for how annoying they are to tame? So far I can confirm they are slower have less HP and do less damage than a saber of the same level.

3. Their base stats are not great, but high level direwolves have good damage. They are quite underestimated, but their scaling is good if the tame was 100+. They do lack armor though, since they have no saddle. The main bonus about them is the fact they have no level requirement to tame.

3 I honestly expected them to be somewhat weaker seeing as they are based around mechanics 1 and 2.

I tamed out a level 100 and a level 96, both at the same levels i tamed my cats at. I dont plan to ♥♥♥♥♥ about the wolves now knowing that they are only about 1/3 working as intended. I guess I will just leave the 2 i have now untill they add in the bonuses...

Also am I the only one who was hoping for a color set that had a "blue nose" direwolf?

On the contrary, their damage actually seems great, and they also gain a ton of health if you put some points into it. Their stats feel like they have a lot more "scaling" per point.
The biggest thing I'm noticing is the lack of saddle armor, they can have a lot of HP but they can lose it quickly (and regen is so slow.)

Those tests look fairly in-depth and accurate, and also include speed tests in which the Direwolf pretty much keeps up with everything else and Sabertooths, too.

I have no idea why some people think they are crappy? Honestly I'm more scared of comming across a pack of wolves than i am a T-rex. They seem to have amazing DPS with slighly weak armor.

Those test to infact confirm that the direwolf is indeed slower than a saber. While it does *not* compair damage between the wolf and saber it does clearly show that the wolf can not match the saber in a contest of speed.

I did not say they were crappy. I never tried to imply that they are good or bad. Simply that they are not quite on par with a saber of the same level.
WHICH MAKES SENSE considering that they are not getting pack bonuses or alpha bonuses, as they are already quite close to pulling the numbers a saber does, I expect them to be quite powerful when finished.

Well, the difference is pretty much a matter of 2 seconds, I'd say that's negligible enough of a speed-difference to make choosing the "better mount" focus on other factors, such as damage, health, etc.

And if you look at that guy's previous post in which he calculates the damage and such for the Saber...

L50 Saber: 644 damage in 1 attack, 1.16 attack rate. ~751 DPS.
L50 Direwolf (from the previous link): 859 damage in 1 attack, 1.56 attack rate, ~1345 DPS.

I think they are incredible! However, you really do need a higher leveled one to get their full solo potential. I found a lv108 and it tamed at lv161. Their DPS is what really does it for them. Personally I felt like they were stronger than cats in my experience.

When you first get it, pump a little damage but focus on pumping its health above 3k ASAP. After that you can focus on melee, adding some health and stamina here and there. Mine only struggles with low level brontos at the moment. I find them to be a really well rounded travel mount! Their AI is exceptionally good at fighting without being ridden so if you have to dismount you should feel very safe.

Damage is only good when said creature is alive to do that damage. That is all.

I never said you did, nor said anything inflammatory toward you. You said "So far I can confirm X" and I was helpfully pointing you toward what few tests have been done that might give you more insight to the contrary, instead of proclaiming an opinion as confirmed fact.

You are more than entitled to your opinion to believe they are weak, it makes no difference to me. o.O

Edit: If that wasn't directed at me... Sorry, but it didn't look like it, he quoted me making a statement that I didn't take as argumentative. I don't care if he believes Direwolves don't live long or something. Like you said, people are entitled to their opinions.
