exactly, I had the same experience as you.
OP may also be playing on a server with modified damage and resistance values as well
I think while you're still leveling them you need to have other dinos with you, a lone wolf is a dead wolf. Either have other high levels wolves with you or do what I do and have my sabertooth cat with me while leveling.
Yes they are squishy. But it can be worked with. Just take care of the pups, be careful.
And their sprint-jump is decent enough to where you don't need to waste points in Movement, really, unless you just have to have more speed.
Personally, after this, I think the Saber could definitely use some revisiting / TLC... both statwise, and model-wise, the fur on the Direwolf puts its model to shame. Especially when the Saber has that hunchback that's supposed to be a mane.
No, the Dire Wolf doesn't need armor. They hit hard for their size, but are a little squishy. It's called balancing. You need to learn the game.
There are things that Dire Wolves excel at, and there are things that Sabers excel at. There are ALSO a lot of common traits between the two. Think of it like a Venn Diagram. Both have similar functions and abilities and share a lot of traits, but each has a couple unique benefits that the other doesn't.
The trick about this game is learning the unique features of different dinos, and using them to your advantage. If you want to ride wolves, keep two+ on follow to get the pack boost. If you want sabers, one will do, but two if you want a mate boost. Each will have a purpose, and the purpose will be dependent on the situation.
...requesting that both be made the same (ie: "Give Wolves more armor to make them as strong as Sabers) will decrease the variety and leave us with a bunch of differently skinned dinos that do the same thing.
You guys, and this guy in particular, do realise that this thread was created like the week that wolves got introduced and people were still figuring them out, right?
