It's cool that there's a mount without a saddle in this game. And the Direwolves are completely awesome. If you want it stronger then get 2 or 3 to follow you and make a pack :)
true ive also noticed that direwolfs can attack faster then other creatures so i can get in more hits before they can get some
...that's my point. If you're using a garbage primitive saddle, of course you're not gonna notice that much of a difference.
I don't remember the math exactly, but I think a 25 armor saddle stops like 33% damage and it scales up a lot as saddles get better. For example, a 60 armor saddle makes you take almost no damage at all.
Are you sure it was 500+ armor and not durability? I would love to see that.
for a while in singleplayer i always spawned in ascended saddles to my tamed creatures twas wonderful nodays i only give myself ascended tools and a few weapons to lessen the grind
