I like to think and hope they are just place holders untill a QOL update and recipe changes
It kind of breaks the feel of the game to me. The huge material list just screams "this is an arbitrary game mechanic" instead of adding to the immersive feel of hunting and gathering the materials.
I have a survival sim mod loadout for skyrim that feels so much more realistic and practical despite being many many times harder than Ark.
Ark seems determined to use grinding time in place of any interesting form of difficulty.
