mammoth works best actually. its just that pelts are sooo heavy -.-

I found killing wolf's with argument and then chopping up dead body with axe gets pelts.. avg 5 to 10 per kill on my server with boosted gather

use your axe or a dino with the axe attack (raptor/sabretooth) on a mammoth (by far the most gain) or a wolf
