The snow biome is very, very, very cold.
So I'm currently sitting in my thatch house alongside a campfire, with hide clothing and an active torch. Still freezing to death though.

I know I could get fur gear now, but trying to farm anything while freezing to death with countless carnivores around is a bit difficult to say the least...and my argent died in the meantime.

Any ideas that could prevent death now? i have a bed there so I can respawn.

We are going to use dimorphodon's for base defense instead of turrets small hp decent damage and lots of speed go ahead and try to catch them.

I never leave home without at least 1 following, and always a passive bird / ptera on my roof with atleast 4 dimos on follow set to aggressive. Dimo's are always the 1st thing I tame so useful for keeping you alive especially when you are starting out.

The absurd values of Fortitude that people seem to consider "a normal investment" just baffle me. Especially with the total lack of stat respec. Unless you've been planning on camping in a nonexistent arctic biome since level 5 or something, it's crazy to be oadvocating 30+ levels of stats into fort.

There's a mindwipe brew to restat and repick engrams
Really? I'd been told that the mindwipe only redid engrams, not stats. Haven't been able to assemble the huge supply of required materials yet to test it (still getting the stupid mushrooms).

Our tribe struggled for about 2 hours to break into the snow biome. However we farmed the fur using the rubbish mounts we had after a few rather nasty days of warring (2 sarcos and a rubbish low level scouting pteradon). Once we lured and tamed 2 argents and a wolf and had our fur gear however we were the first to set up shop in the snow biome and it's amazing. Just get the fur gear and make sure to cook all the meat you get from farming and you'll be fine. We can easily survive a blizzard at night in the fog with full snow gear and cooked meat without using a fire. Teamwork is key to break into the snow biome fast.

Do not respec into fortitude it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ waste of points. I have 0 fortitude with full fur armour and even in a foggy blizzard at night I can easily survive with 85-90% hp without a fire or torch while out in the elements. Get that fur armour guys lol.

Yet your the only one who has said that so far every one else talks about freezing still you probably dropped everything into hp

I believe you have to build up your fortitude to 20 so you don't freeze . Plus hint fly around the edge of the snow area . find a wolf pick it up with the bird take it to a warm area . Use the hatchet to get the pelt . This takes a while about 1hr . But you'll have all the pelt u need to make the fur coat.

S'spose they could turn off food & water too... in this, a survival game?

There's already an option to scale these down (which I have to about 1/4), they need one for temperature too. Some people are into the pointless grind aspects of this game. Others just want to build cool stuff and tame dinos. The real world is hard enough, I play video games to have fun.

You are Jesus, it will all be allright.
And if not, thanks for offering yourself up!

No I have 190 in weight because I had to add more to weight cause the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gear weighs 48lbs. 360 oxygen 125% melee and the rest is in hp. Just wear fur gear and don't run around on foot. Eat cooked meat to get extra hp.

The biome can be nasty at times, but it's not going to kill you with full fur. Like I said my tribe had a lot of trouble at first, but after 2 hours we all had fur (8 of us) and we have not had trouble with temperature since. The temp can be bad, but the fur has crazy insulation, almost 300 with the full set on.

I don't think it's cold enough actually. I was able to mine 400+ oil from the icebergs only with chitin armor and 10 fortitude. Only had to make a few fur pieces when I wanted to tame a wolf.

There is nothing forcing us to be in the snow biome so it's ok if its a bit unforgiving if you're not prepared.

It's already there, the air conditioner. But it does practically nothing. Until they buff that, the snow biome is just a waste of space.

Air conditioner works great for both cold and heat. Under extreme temparatures, use 2 or 3 per room and never again have to worry about clothing or fire inside your house.

Did some testing. Mindwipe does stats. (at least for me in my testing world)
Full fur and 28 Fortitude keeps you at just cold in -13C.
Not sure how cold a blizzard gets :D

I've got something like 20 fortitude and even before the snow biome, I can barely survive with chitin armor, just south of the volcano. I need hide armor and a torch at night (and even for some of the day), just to bring it to the "snowflake" level. Or I need to stand right next to an air conditioner (and sometimes I need the torch, even then).

That's why I built two new bases in warmer beach areas, but they got pulled into the snow biome when they expanded beyond the areas they said they were going.

Well, if it is -13°C and the wind is 40 MPH it would be like -39°C. Pretty cold.
-13°C = 8.6°F
-39°C = -38.2°F
