Bow / Crossbow / Compound Bow
Hallo, peoples~! I know there have been topics before about this, but I figure there might be more information, updates, data, testing, etc. that might have been made by now.

So, what exactly are the pros and cons of each of these weapons? I assume the Compound Bow is pretty much a straight upgrade from the standard Bow. But are there any specific advantages to each weapon (aside from the Crossbow being water-usable)? Anything about Torpor, or Tame vs. Kill, anything?

Thanks~! :D

Bow is faster but does less damage
XBow is the best item in the game atm as a Mastercraft Xbow does the max damage, thus the most torpor for taming and well, damage for killing.
Compound is currently a gimmick until you can get a MCraft version of it (in my opinion).

Well, the compound bow is SUPPOSED to be a straight upgrade from the bow, and in terms of stats it technically is, but most people would agree that the difference in stats is not enough to justify the difference in upkeep derived from repairing the bow and maintaining a supply of arrows.

The higher-tier bows are better for taming because they do more damage, and the torpor effect applied by tranquilizer arrows scales with damage.

Additionally, the crossbow and compound bow are a bit more straightforward to aim in comparison to the standard bow (which honestly isn't all that difficult to handle, but I figured it was worth mentioning).

Bow is primarly used to take down Argentavis without killing it.

CrossBow is used to take down larger animals but also does Damage to the animal.

Compount bow I'm not sure I never bothered to unlock it.

bow:
pro: adjustable damage (by draw level) , high reload speed, high movement speed, low repair cost, allows field repair
con: lower damage than xbow

xbow:
pro: highest damage, usable under water
con: movement speed is slowed down when reloading, no damage adjustment, needs a smithy to repair

compound:
pro: looks nice, adjustable damage (by draw level) , high reload speed, high movement speed
cons: incredibly high repair costs, worse than a apprentice simple bow in terms of damage, needs a fabricator to repair

At primative for damage it goes:
bow > crossbow > compound bow (ONLY w/ metal arrows)

for torpor:
bow > compound bow > crossbow

The only real benefit to the compound bow and metal arrows is that they're armor piercing. but the fact that they are so expensive makes it so that no one wants it.
personally I wouldnt mind the repair upkeep, but the cost of the metal arrows is way to much to make it worth it.

Forgot to add that only does decent damage with a metal arrow, does lower dmg and less torpor with tranq arrows and stone arrows then lower tier archery weapons shouldnt be that way but it is.

Ok, thanks for the information, you guys! Looks like it's best to just stick with the good ol' crossbow. It's a shame, since I love the feeling of using a traditional bow (compound or not), and I usually have pretty good aim with them, so they're fun to use.

Thanks again!
