Are tamed creatures affected by temperature?
I took a ichthyosaurus as the mount, 2 sarcos and a megalodon as protection out deep sea diving. I had Fria Curry and Lazarus Chowder to keep me going. Things were going fine until I went to mine a few oily rocks in a cluster. Hopped back on the ichthy and he was nearly dead. Sarcos and megalodon were fine. I didn't see any attackers down there, but it was cold. I don't know what could have hurt the ichthy, so I was curious if it was the cold.

Other guesses are a wild megalodon that I missed entirely and the critters got it before I noticed, but no combat music. I know they target ichthys specificly, but he's survided those better in the past. Glitch maybe?

There is a slim chance I was near a cave enterance. I know there's a glitch with those that kill tamed critters, but is that instant, or does it do lots of damage?

Whatever happened to my ichthy, original question still stands: does temperature affect them. Any advice as to what else I need to be careful of in deep sea resource gathering would be nice too.

To my knowledge temperature does not affect dino's. And the cave glitch on water dino's was fixed. However there is a fun new glitch that kills flyers that enter a cave.

That aside, there are only 2 things that coukd have hurt your itchy. A mega or a plessy.

Or you didn't have enough food on it and it started starving to death.

Food was fine. Five minutes into attempt #2 of deep sea resource gathering, I stop at another oil node near shore. The ichthy following me again when not mounted. Hopped off, mined one rock, hopped back on with not an enemy in sight and it had a bunch of damage. I think the idiot followed me right into the path of the pick axe. :/ Rest of the trip I was more careful with that and didn't have anymore issues.

I have 1 hit my Ichys a couple of times, They do tend to end up right behind you if you hop off a few meters away and have to swim to the oil node makeing the Itchy move towards you as you start swinging your pick only to hit & kill it in 1 hit :(

That's rough. Good thing I've been beefing up it's hit points. That probably saved it. I've just turned off following and I don't swim far from it.
