Ballistas worth making any more?
My tribe made 1 ballista practically as soon as the patch went live, but after the nerf (we havent tested how bad it is) is it worth the resources to make more? i wanted one on the front of my boat but i hear they are practically useless now.

Really hope we get a modern tier and tek tier mountable turrets. Would love a howitzer (just not have the massive range obviously) or anti tank gun type turret, but most likely will be a cannon.

yeah they nerfed the damage it does to stone by a crap load, and also raped the range on it. as well as increase the cost of bolts. i was posting on a thread trying to explain why the ballista doesnt need to be nerfed but people kept crying their hearts out about primitive and before you knew what was going on you suddenly had an expensive over sized slingshot.

The players on primitive PVP got use too having PVE servers (servers were base raiding was more hassle than its worth)

When the devs finally added something which "fixed" primitive server PVP the PVE players complained till it got nerfed into the ground.

The fact that a massive ballista bolt does less than 10 damage to wild dino's and players now is a Joke. The developers could of balanced this like they do in other games. Make heavy seige weapons have a limited firing arc, be very slow to aim and fire but keep the high damage.

Instead they nerf it so its useless and looks stupid in game. Ever see a Dino or Player with a ballista bolt stuck in them? lmao

primitive server players complained with a reason... You guys have no idea how OP was that ♥♥♥♥. And it still strong. 630 dmg with one shot. And it reloads faster than a cbow.
Now question your self if its worth on a primitive server... Yes it does pretty much.

The ballista is designed for primitive tier, hence why it needs only lv 35 to learn it -.- And devs mentioned it so many times before on the forum...

If you play on normal server, obviously you have no reason to get this unless for fun. But before the nerf this ballista was a flying grenade basically. 2,1k dmg on a stone wall with one shot.

630 dmg is very good for a primitive server. You can build 2+ ballistas on one bronto platform. A large and active tribe can wipe anyone to the ground in no time with this. Farming the resource for the ammos i don't think its a problem...

And no raiding on primitive wasn't a problem. Many ppl used 2nd accounts to have a 2nd character. Pumped the melee dmg to 400+ and raiding was not an issue anymore.
And if you think the ballista brought PVP to primitive servers, you are wrong. It didn't at all. It made offline raiding much easier, and much faster. Nothing else.
So ppl on primitive server are still not PVPing...

It is indeed like PVE, but not because there is no option to fight, or raid. There is. The problem is the community's mentality. They are scared, afraid to PVP and face the enemy when they are online. And nothing will change this mindset. I'm not sure if this is any different on normal server, but thats how it is on primitive.

Yes, its a shame that ppl need a second acc to raid easier and faster. But what can you do against it? You are not forced to it btw, its just and easy option that ppl use.. You can raid finely with 170-200 dmg too with 3-5 ppl. With 400+ dmg you can solo raid anyone.

Personally I hate offline raiding. Historically PVP games were all "Live" PVP. That was until RUST came a long and than other games copied it's offline raiding gimmick.

The developers just need to add "Live PVP" servers were you can't offline raid bases 30 mins after the last person in that Tribe logs out for a "protection" period of 24 hours. After 24 hours the protection disaperes.

Servers like that would encourage real live PVP while still providing the option to destroy inactive bases..

The most often complaint used by the Offline raiding fan girls is raiding a base when someones online leads to less loot as the enemy throws it on the floor. All the developers need to do is increase the decay timer on dropped items to 20 mins for them servers.
