Pachy is finally useful!
For eggs! Their kibble tames a new dino that you can at least build on. Pachy is still too slow to be useful in combat and too small to look cool riding... but at least it lays eggs that are good for something. I never am the guy who says "C'mon, Devs!", but... c'mon, devs. Love the pachy a little?

Try them in a group, much more effective that way

Son, what are you talking about? Who would want a kibble for poor mans Bronto? Get your turtles for eggs and forget Pachy

Two paracers = weight of one bronto

Paracer outdoes bronto in both speed and stamina.

Use a nice rex or spino to make up for their bad combat skills and you have basically made brontos useless except for a moving fortress/target.

The upcoming dire wolfs should also do the trick for a good guarding job on a paracer...

I actually tested it, and it's not until you get a pachy to 170% run speed that they can sprint at the same speed as a level 4 carno. That's just terrible. You have to spend every single point in speed to make them viable in just moving normally. I harped on it once, and then I left it alone. Now after some testing, I gotta say.. fix this for the sake of the poor pachy.

Isn't the usual strat to use their charge ability as transport? But yeah, buff it some way. Come on, I see them getting shredded by wild dilos! DILOS! When the PACHY has a 20 level advantage.

Paracers are better than brontos at anything except for the smaller bases. They're faster, they have more stam, and just get a rex to guard it and you're good. 2 paracers are easier to tame than 1 bronto

Explain why a Pachy needs to run super fast?
Its for taming. If you hit a carno, it isnt going to run away, its going to fight back.
Just pump up the health of 3 Pachys and go knock em out.

Also, the head butt is pretty fast and can be used to short sprint.

Multipass? Sep 25, 2015 @ 9:04am
I actually really like the pachy. It does need the animation removed when charging and maybe the torper gain nerfed if the animation is removed. But if people would use them in small packs they are very viable.+1 for Base movement speed increase and removal of the animation before charging!

so do the pachys lay eggs more consistently than dilos and raptors? I hope so.

you can also use them to knock out other dinos

The problem with using them in packs is you can't whistle fast enough all the time to make them stop attacking, meaning they'll damage the target as it's going down and reduce the tame quality. The animation before the sprint means it can be stopped by damage, making it even more useless as a 1 man show. The thing about what you said, why it needs to run super fast? So it can hit, turn around, hit again. Taking bull charges at a target.

When i put 170% speed into anything but a 4 legged plant eater, I expect some sort of return on that investment beyond "just slightly almost raptor speed."

Yeah, this doesn't make much sense... realistically, isn't the Pachy all about headbutting with that skull? You'd think they'd be able to build up some speed for ramming, since that's the weapon it naturally developed.
I get that the headbutt is an ability on its own, but it should still be able to run well.

Side note I've forgotten to put here, as it was very recent. I tamed a 116 pachy last night. Before the tame, it got in a fight with a level 42 dilo. I watched and at the end had to kill the dilo because the 116 was LOSING. These poor little guys are just above dodo on the food chain.

I have no problem doing just that.

Headbutt charge the back end of the target at an angle, you will hit them and can keep going.
Then turn around and repeat.

But,most of the time I just tank it.
I haven't had one pachy die yet who just stood there and fought. head to head.

But then again, I'm not crazy enough to take on a rex.
The pachy is just fine where it is.
It is an easy tame that makes it easy to tame other mid to low level dinos.
Anything more would make it unbalanced and VERY unrealistic.

That said, I think we should be able to whistle for our unridden pachys to charge.
I think 6 Pachys charging a rex would be effective.
