Can Alpha Rex drop something useful?

Genuine question, every alpha rex I killed so far only ever gave me a good number of prime meat and a trike helmet skin. While alpha raptors give me all sort of purple or yellow tools which is very nice.

yeah they can, its completely random. I get from nothing up to mastercraft items from all the different alphas

Agreed, raptor can be the equivalent of purple drops, Carno = Yellow and Rex = Red.

I usually get Journeyman Xbows and some other cool stuff from alpha rex's. If you're not already, look in their inventory instead of eating it right away.

well try kiling the bloodmother...you only get a freaking flag...whats that about ?
like it if the give them some awesome loot, hope the will change it in the future

Keep your mount's current weight a bit below half Max weight. It won't collect loot from kills if over half full.

I actually got a Journeyman Cross Bow from an Alpha Rex last weekend / it was badass too 185.2 Damage and like 485 Durability. usless to tame with but great for PVP or PVD

Wish I could find a alpha t-dom to kill. I can only seem to find carno/raptors and have searched the island heavily. :(

185% damage is good for taming, less Tranqs needed.

Why would you want you tame with less health instead of more?

I Have get yellow Crossbows, Bows, hide and Cloth Armor (no Flak *grmml*) also Yello Hatchet and purple Pik and pike. And a purple Sickle... All from Alpha Raptors and carnos.

I've gotten Journeyman and Mastercraft pikes, metal tools, and crossbow off them

but not recently =/ last one i killed gave me zilch

Close. I believe if whatever it collects would raise your dino's weight to over half capacity, that's when you won't collect anything. I have a habit when I see an alpha to run and drop off everything I don't absolutely need so I have as little as possible on my bird (he's my alpha killer).

Absolutely. As long as everyone knows don't use a crossbow on poor flyers... Best to use a basic bow against flyers due to them being more susceptible to ranged attacks. A better crossbow is definitely advised vs everything else. Got a mastercraft crossbow myself too, it's what I use to tranq everything but them (and of course use to go on ranged murder sprees cause mastercraft). Also, just on the note of health, you only fire a shot every ten seconds, if not a little more, when tranq'ing; avoids that health issue you mentioned,

Sorry. Couldn't help myself. But yeah, more health is good for taming, so if you're worried you'll kill something (level for example), then feel you on using normal, fresh outta the box bow. Better safe than sorry I guess.

Use a bow to tranq.. might take more tranqs.. but it means less damage and a better tame.

Yeah. That's why you space it out a little more than normal. Personally, only use a high level crossbow vs high level ground dinos. Everything else gets the vanilla bow.

i already got from alphas rex/carno/raptor mastercraft/purple/blue/green pick, axe, xbow, pistols and hide/cloth gear... but i already kill around 30/40+ alphas. and yes rex drop it too
