Thatch collecting Dino?
Is there any? And if not, from the Stego and Mammoth as a secondary thatch collector, which is better for it?

Right now Im using the Stego since Im letting my scorpion heal before going taming a Mammoth. But I want to know if do I keep going with the Stego till my storage is full or wait for the Mammoth?

Ankylo is great for it.

I second icyfuzz's comment. Also, the mammoth will not collect thatch, it collects wood.

I use a stego for collecting my thatch. easy to tame early on and tanky.

I though Mammoth collected Thatch as a result of the wood. Good to know is not.

And Ankylo really? Is there anything he cant collect? lol

I was going to take mine out later for metal and flint but I guess Im taking him out earlier.

those who say the mammoth doesn't harvest thatch are wrong, It's definitely not something you would want to use for collecting large amounts of thatch, however it does work.

I would recommend a stego.

hes like a pickaxe, you get more metal, flint, and thatch from him, where mamoth and dodicrus are hatchets

Anky is great for thatch, but it also picks up a bunch of random berries and such.

If you want just thatch (and a little wood), use and armadillo. They don't get as much thatch per hit, but they also don't get all the berries and seeds and whatnot. They also move a lot faster, which can shorten your gathering time significantly, depending on how far you travel.

mammoth gets more wood than thatch; but does indeed gather thatch. same with Bronto. All other herbivores gather more Thatch than wood, but do indeed collect a smalll amount of wood as well.

trike, stego, anky, doed all get thatch relatively well.... and at about the same rate per tree, each.. But, IMHO the stego is best for thatch simply because it has a larger hit radius.

That being said, I tend to use our Trike for mass amounts of thatch; because the attack animation is faster; and our trike is leveled for speed/sta (sucker is Quick for a trike.) so it tends to out perform a stego... but we've yet to level a stego in speed... might be better; haven't tried.

Bronto makes the best thatch collector.

In my experience Bronto is the best for thatch, followed by Stego and Ankylo.

I'd say any herbivore that isn't a Mammoth.
That one is good for wood, like the others have said.

+1 this

I'd use the ankylo. Whenever you are full up on berries, move all materials you want kept into your own inventory and empty the Ankys completely. Repeat until almost encombered and just move all your thatch back on the Anky.

hopefully the inventory sorting feature in tonight's patch can drop specific folders....

meaning; use whichever herbivore you Like more =p I cant imagine you need Sooo much thatch that Any of them wouldn't suffice. =P

also, to add more to thread; even tho Doed doesn't gather berries, that damn turn radius and attack animation are GRUELING (imo) .... so I Hate using a doed for thatch. strictly stone for me...
