It's quite ridiculous even for something that's not realistic. Its too expensive to make and the bonus is not worth for that little area, considering that it also needs electricity. I better deal with the weather with just my armor.
Comparatively with a feeding trough:
*Wiki* Feeding troughs: a creature will eat inside of it and will then feed all owned creatures within a range of 9 foundations horizontally and 16 foundations vertical from the point of placement.
So... Dinos can feed from a trough on the fourth floor or 2 brontos away but i need to be right next to the AC to be affected by it. I would need like 15 of those to heat/cool my entire base, and its a small base.
Suggestion:
Make the AC heat/cool in a 2x2 area if its outdoors, make it heat/cool in a 10x10 area if its indoors (aka, house icon) but not let it go through walls or ceilings. That way one would be able to not get the cold penalization during a blizzard in an iceberg base while wearing the fur armor; or the heat penalization in a cave or furnace room while being naked.
You would need more than one if you want to keep it like that in the other rooms.
i think its because i have a dino gate as a door or the room is just to large
