How the heck do you tame the monkey!?
I mean, I know how, put berries in slot 10 and hit E key when close.....

But how do you stop him from getting scared and running away???

I have never been able to feed him more than twice before he suddenly gets scared for no reason and runs.

I even tried tranqing one first and then building a thatch cage around him so I can feed him when he wakes up.

But no, he goes into constaant panic mode so you dont get the option to feed him.

I'm out of ideas.

Can someone tell me how this works???

Sems to me that the monkey shuoldnt be afraid after you feed it the first time, it should instead follow you around for another free handout.
It should only get scared if you DO something to scare it, or if something else scares it.

But I digress...how is anyone taming these things now?

you have to be close, but not too close, it's hard, but they don't panick that long at all, make them get stuck somewhere, and they will unpanick.

like I said, though i tried holdng them in a pen, they never stop being panicked. I think the "panic" stae is based upon distance traveled by the monkey, not time passed.

always stay behind it. no sudden movements. go in, feed it and back off for half a minute.
in essence, the monkey is taming you... o_O

The Monkey is the easiest tame going, if you use Kibble it will take you 2-3 mins top for a decent level.
1.The monkey has a set path it walks and when reaching the end of that it will make a turn, use this to feed before it gets to the next turn.
2. Always feed from behind.
3. I personallyt use x to crawl behind it, it take a little time to catch up but i find 2-3 minute tames every time has proven it a good system. You could use crouch too. after feeding back off to allow hunger back up.
4. Having tamed about 8 Monky this way it is really really easy once you get the system going, anyone following this post shouting BS please troll elsewhere or go try it for yourself.

Good luck, you will how ever lose the monkey you tame to the dissapearing monky bug at some point in all likely hood though. Keep it on follow not shoulder until they eventually fix this.

Yes thank you, exactly why am posting this thread so that I can "Learn to Play and Get good"

Thank you for your amazing advice. I feel so enlightened now and ready to try again using the vast knowledge you have bestowed upon me.

Pretty soon he'll have you wearing a tiny vest and clapping cymbals.

Thanks for the advice, I still have no idea how to make kibble though.
Where are the recipes?
From what I understand, you need to find eggs and cook them with stuff.

What level do expect a person to be to do that?
I'm only level 15 on my current server. and I've never been past level 30 yet.

the egg for monkey kibble is Dodo, get 2 female and a male and you will be swimming in eggs, i have 3 female 1 male and i eat nothing but dodo eggs and still have 100 stock in fridge just from those 3 females. So Kibble needs cooking pot, in that a fuel + water mojo berries and fibre, those 3 are universal for all kibble. You then need the extra 3 ingrediants that make up each kibble type, wiki hase all the recipe on it, search for that. Monkey need dodo egg, cooked meat and Rockarrot < this is a special plant you need to grow in a medium or large plant plot, small will not grow them. Throw that all in the pot and you will get a kibble, water you add in skins. 5 kibble will get you a decent monky, and double that for a great one :)

I love how people just spoon feed the game to new players and don't give them the excitement of learning on their own. Why even play the game if you can't get anything done in 10 seconds and go crying on forums how to do things?

Thanks but...
Holy smokes thats a lot of work!
I cant even build a medium plot yet!

I am level 15 and have Tamed:
Phiomia
Dilo
Raptor
Trike
Sarco

Those were easy, just jump on a boulder and beg them with a sling shot.

But a little monkey I cant even tame without stuff I cant even build yet at level 15?

I guess the monkey is an "elite" tame
Boatabike Sep 19, 2015 @ 6:30pm
same system just use berries...! Nothing Elite aboit kibble just a level thing, There were no kibble for anything when i tamed most stuff.... all is quite doable with patience and effort

If you read my post you would see that I outlined my attempts.
I thought I put in a solid effort, but after 4 hours of trying and failing to tame a monkey, I though my time would be better spent asking someone more knowledgable than I.

Sorry, but I have a job and life outside of a video game. So yes, If I get stuck I ask for help.

What do you do when you are faced with a problem you can't solve after many attempts?

Or are you so amazingly enlightened that you instantly know the answer to every obstacle you have ever faced in life?
