Meganeuras are absolute OP and should be removed from the game until fixed
So I just lost another dino (which I tamed for 8 hours). It was killed by three lvl ~8 Meganeuras and I couldn't do anything about it.
Since they have no collider, they can fly into any dino and kill it from inside, and dino deals 0 damage to them. The only way is to run away if you can. If you have slow dino with some weight, or it doesn't have enough stamina, you can't simply run away and you lose your dino. If you go AFK and meganeura flies into your dino, it kills it.

TL;DR lvl 1 meganeura can kill lvl 210 Rex by flying into it's body. It's the most powerful creature in the game that should be removed.

Dinos do 0 damage to them?

I get attacked by any of the insects numerous times and my dinos kill them instantly. Of course i also just jump off my dino and let the dino do the killing since i suck at aiming with the dino... but hey they die and i dont lose any sleep over it.

The only time the bugs are particularly annoying is when im taming something and they eat it without me noticing, or when they attack me on my pteranodon and it just flies away like a chicken.

Srs I have close to 400 hours on ark and never have these problems
I srs am under the belief people get drunk playing this game and pass out while a bug attacks them

The meganeura don't bother me as long as I dont attack them, and even so, they die pretty quick... Don't know what your issue is, dude...
My dinos hit them just fine.

I always walk backwards and knock it down. How hard can it be?

they get aggresive when a dead animal is nearby (known as feed ferenzy) jump of get a pike and just bash them. if you arent able to even kill a megunera and a dino on neutral who defenetly is able to kill them you shouldnt tame them in first place. maybe its a sign that you are a bad pet owner^^

If the dino is big enough to "squish" something, just start sprinting and you should crush them. I know they can be incredibly annoying as they just seem to attack you out of nowhere, but they're relatively easy to kill.

I've never had a dino die to bugs. Worst case, I walked backwards uphill and killed em

It's just a matter of timing (if on the dino back), really.

Say if you're on a flyer, you need to speed up ahead of them, whip around, spam attack as they fly at you.

and just keep repeating until they are all dead

dinos with a wide AOE like stego and bronto, even trike, are good too because unlike a Pike they wont' damage the dino you're trying to protect (won't help with tames though, sorry)

My T-rexes usually 1 hit kill them... Then again I play on a server where the highest lvl a dino can spawn is 30, but that doesnt mean the damage they deal is that low. With cloth armor on a t rex could still probably 1 hit bite you (ha get it!). None the less a t rex is a T-rex.

lolive never had a problem with the bugs, dont chase them around in circles, WALK BACKWARDS WHILE HITTING THEM, PRO TIP AND IVE ONLE BEEN PLAYING LIKE 2 OR 3 WEEKS, killed by the smallest thing in the whole game, how do you feel scrubs?
oXYnary Sep 17, 2015 @ 6:52pm
I watched 4 meganseurs kill a wild Carno. Only one of them died in the struggle.

I lost a Para I just tamed after a group of 5 of them attacked my Para. I couldn't defend it without hitting it with my spear. So I ended up killing it by accident.

I like the meganseurs, and hope they add animations where they rest on trees. At this time though in dev, the hitboxes and aoe for dino attacks allow the megs to come off scott free.

The small bugs are a legitimate problem =) you must not have enough experience to know this

wild dinos, such as oXYnary pointed out, have issues hitting the bugs and will circle eternally until they die to them.

Tamed dinos are just as stupid, unless being ridden by a rider.

Insects and their small, wonky hitboxes are indeed an issue, and that is why i made a suggestion to help, and not just make a rude comment.

Might try taming a dinosaur or two and see how it goes with the bugs ^^

Good luck doing that with slow creatures like Mammoth or Trike, especially if you have lots of weight in them that you don't want to throw out. They move backwards ten times slower than bugs move and just sit inside your dino.

Not sure if this is a troll post, or if you're actually serious...

I find them the easiest thing to kill in the game (next to dodos & dilos)
They are a 1-hit with any dino. And I have never had problems with them "going into my body"
It doesn't need to be "fixed", you just don't know how to kill them properly. And to remove a creature from the game because you aren't able to kill it? That's greed right there...

LMAO this has got to be a troll post....

A Mammoth is one of the easiest beasts to use to kill the bugs.... just hop off of the mammoth and let the mammoth kill it.... It is not hard at all.
