Fortitude - worth it at all?
I play on a server with PVP enabled and I find it hard to justify putting points into fortitude because it seems to do practically nothing until you put a LOT of points into it.. and all of those could have went into other stats such as health, weight, oxygen or movement speed for example.

How do you guys handle it?

"Play on a server with pvp enabled" yes fortitude is worth it.

Ya. Barely having to drink/eat and taking less torpor (from tranq arrrows and scorp) is worth putting points in fortitude.

Fort wont help you ina straight up pvp fight but the boost against weather is pretty nice. you get 2 points of fort per level 'point' put towards it, which in turn gives you 4 hyperthermal/hypothermal. Freezing to death in full flak gets old fast and having to head to the nearest body of water every 10 seconds while sprinting during a heat wave is bad too.

I don't venture far from base without at least 10 points in it. You'll know why if you don't. :)

PS: Since scuba, I dial in less oxygen so I add to fort....

Fortitude is a 100% must have if you want to be competitive on a PVP server. Without it you cannot farm metal at mountain tops or you will die of cold in a couple minutes, cold will not just make you eat more, it will kill you and there are many places on the map where you will simply die without fortitude. It also turns out that all the best spots to place a base require some fortitude to survive.

If you raid an ennemy base that is placed in such places, you will simply die if you don't have any fortitude.

I always get 20 points of fortitude, it seems to be enough to avoid taking damage from cold or heat almost everywhere, I guess more points could be useful to save some food but 20 feels like it is enough.

I'm 69 right now, have farmed a lot of metal and never died of cold. In fact I just never died because of the temperatures ever. Yes you do eat a lot, but that's it. How can you claim it's a must have.

I lived in the mountains for a a long time and had it at 20.
Think I went a little overboard... 10-14 is still pretty good overall.

Mainly play pve, but I raised my fortitude to 30 and can go every where without freezing, don`t even need a torch during the night on the mountains wich is great.

harder to get tranqed to death, instead of 2 arrows or hits from a scorp, takes more like 5-6, now have both of you shooting tranqs and see who stands longger

Fortitude controls how much Torp you can take, and how the elements like hot and cold effect you. So yeah it's important, least get it past 20 and you can live alright.

I have 30 Fortitude and freeze / overheat all the time, as far as I'm concerned its not working.
To freeze at -5 with hide gear and a torch and lose health with 30 fortitude is downright annoying as is overheating while swiming naked in the ocean.

YMMV, depending on if you play on PVP, PVE, and how much you care about food loss.

I lived on the beach and was happy. Trips up the mt. Had little effect other than some extra food. Then I moved inland to a nice place on the river. Darn near die every night untill I rerolled those oxy points into fortitude

If you want to get into chitin and flak armor you need a little bit of fortitude to compensate for the negative weather resistance. Remember those armors make you hotter when its warm but they don't make you warmer when its cold because of the negative hyperthermal stat.

Unlike Hide armor which provides the best warm and cold resistance.

I guess then it doesn't affect when you actually see the hot cold icons but rather the damage you receive from the cold. Seems nobody really knows, even from reading the reddit posts. If not then its just plain broken for me.
