Player Names & Map Questions
I apologize for the noobness of these questions. I tried searching, but to no avail.

We are really, really new to the game. We have 1 of us hosting a non-dedicated private server so we can play, just us friends in co-op. And we noticed a few small issues that has made it way more challenging than we prefer.

1) We all have "show player names" enabled, if you get more than 50m away from each other, they disappear. We can all see the host, and his distance to us, from anywhere, but not each other. And often times, we'll be right next to each other and not see each others names. This has made us have to rely solely on staying near the host so we can find anybody. host has the tethering turned up to 3 so we end up at times, 1500m away from the host and no way to know where the other play is.
And is there a way to show people in our tribe on the map?

2) On the map, for whatever reason, the "me" pin sometimes does not appear, so we literally have no idea what part of the world we are even in. Is there a way to turn it on? When I was hosting the server, I could see it on mine, but nobody else could. Now someone else is hosting and nobody can see it.
Also an interesting tidbit, a pin I created when I was hosting the server to mark my house, is showing up on the map in a different server, with a completely different survivor.
And with that, the tiny area I explored on a different server with a different survivor, is uncovered on the map, even though I hadn't been there on the new server. So when I open the map, I see a couple uncovered areas from previous games. So is the map persistent to the account?

3) When you put in a new Map Pin, it asks for Lat/Lon, but when we don't even know where we are to begin with (see #2), it's a whole lot of trial and error to even get it in the right spot, and even then, we have no idea how to find it again, since it's not a "waypoint" type marker and when our pins aren't on the map, we don't even know where we should head. We are planning on creating a shelter to store our crap, and then set out in the world, but obviously need to know how to find our way back.
Suggestion: When you hit 'new pin', have it enter your current Lat/Lon coords, or a button that says "my position". Now some may argue that that isn't realistic for a survival game, at which point I'll say: "In your inventory, you can see the outside temp, time of day and what zone you are in without any equipment needed while almost naked, so in the Ark, you are obviously surrounded by the technology to know your current location enough to get the map coords" :)

4) Is there a better way to find your corpse/loot when you die, other than hoping against all hope that you get lucky? Would be nice if there was some sort of name-plate that would show up over it, or something on the hud/map to indicate where you died. We have literally started with absolutely nothing a half-dozen times because we died a long ways away from where we originally spawned, and have no idea where we ended up.
Again, we aren't asking for hand holding and don't mind doing the work, but the "map" seems useless, we can only see the host name/distance.

Basically we have no qualms with any part of the gameplay. We just want to be able to see everyone in our tribe's names when looking around, at all times, so we can find each other. And to be able to figure out where we are on the map for navigating purposes.

Any help would be highly appreciated :)

1) on Non-Dedicated you must ALWAYS know how far you are from the host if you get past a certain range it will disconnect you. No there is no way to display everyones name once they are out of range.
2)I'm in game at the moment but there should be a setting onthe Setup portion that says shows player position on map
3)Once you have a GPS made it'll help with this, otherwise it's gestimating
4) No. The map is virtually useless except for once you know where the obelisks are then you'll know what the mountains and rivers represent.

1) How about on a normal dedicated server, can we be able to see everyone in the tribe's names at all time that way?

2) I will take a look again tonight.

3) A GPS? man, we are only level 6 and have died a ton and spent most of our time lost and trying to find each other lol. It'll be a long time before we can make that I'm sure.

4) So basically once we've uncovered most of the map already? :)

Also what about what I was saying with Pins made on different servers showing up, and parts of the map being revealed that we haven't even been to on that server yet?

The pins showing up from different servers is because it's saved in your profile "Somewhere" I found that annoying to so I stopped using pins and just built by major landmarks.

As far as #1 goes no it only works when players are within 50m or so after that no.

#4 you can see 2 out of 3 obelisks almost all the time from anywhere on the map (except in deep forest where you can't see anytihng anyway).

Persistant clan nameplates with distance meters would be great. Also, dying sucks and finding your loot is ridiculous. It would be nice if you could at least craft something to make the map interactive. I got spoiled on Terraria with the obvious X and gravestones marking my death.

Paint your armor briht red and you'll spot your corpse more easily.

Otherwise, use the GPS or learn to read a map/ environment. Most contemporary cab drivers have given up on maps and only do GPS so you can guess which one is easiest and most efficient.

You can also use old method im using... Print map - make cords web on it and you can set pins exacly on point you are... but GPS is definitly better and faster way if you dont have time and believe me - when you start to build bases your lvl will grow very fast...
