With a change to the charge and more torpor damage I could see myself using these guys to ko stuff. However in their current state I think my tribe is going to leave these guys alone for a while. Maybe grab a few more females as I heard they lay eggs, might find a use for their eggs.
Not arguing that they should be killing machines. They just currently don't have a role to fill. If you want to ko something it's actually better to just use an xbow or even a scorpion is better.
Everything else they are just terrible at, which I'd be okay with if they filled their k.o.ing role.
I do not want them to be a killing machine, but a 44 pachy should be able to k.o. a 12 stego in 3-4 full speed charges I would think. In its current form it's just not worth anything (other than eggs).
Really tho, Dimos work in the most situations. They're just slow.
lol I'd take almost anything over raptors if I'm going to be honest. Dilos I can leave all over our tribe's yard and they won't annoy anyone. Raptors make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ton of noise, especially once you get a lot of them. That and their tails wagging will constantly clip you and rubberband you.
The only difference between the 2 is base damage and one can have a saddle. Their hp scales the same and we just use them as a meat shield for the plant species x turrets.
Raptors our tribe keeps 1 male and 5 females for their eggs. We stockpile raptor kibble for when inevitably we lose a mammoth to another tribe while gathering lumber for gunpowder. Even then these raptors are in a wooden shack out of everyone's way as they really piss people off when their damn tails clip you all the time. Screw raptors lol, so annoying.
Pachys are atleast not annoying, they are quiet and small so we can keep them out in the yard, however other than cannon fodder (too costly to tame a lot of them as cannon fodder) and having 4-5 females and 1 male (for the eggs I imagine as people have stated they supposedly lay eggs, I have yet to see any) they're not really worth anything. I'll be waiting for them to get buffed though, as I'd love to find a place for them in our tribe's daily activities.
I never expected them to be quite as good as a scorpion, but it would have been nice if they could at least take out other "entry tier" dino's fairly easily.
I think the 3-4 charges for a stego that got mentioned earlier might be a little much. but it def should have gone down after 7 or 8 IMO... then again, a lvl 12 stego takes a good 9 or 10 narc arrows at around that lvl to drop. I will have to do some more experimenting with this.
The only real use I can see for them right now would be for really early game, acting as something to bridge the gap between the slingshot and the narc arrows. but even then thats only a 5 level gap. Maybe if the saddle for them was at a lower tier? so they could be your main knock out method for 10 levels instead of just 5 they may serve some greater purpose then.
It's also not 'yet another thing trying to murder you for sport' in the wild, which is a plus for atmosphere.
I still would prefer other tames early on for practicality purposes, like a phiomia to be a ghetto fridge/poop factory, the parasaur as an all-terrain mount, and a trike as a pack animal.
Pachy comes rather late to the game, since both it and the raptor come well into the Tranq arrow phase, and both, hands down, come after taming Dimorphodons.
