Pachy is kind of... useless?
I want to start this off by saying I did not just log on here to rant about this guy, I want to see them really be useful so I'm here to give my feedback. Also to give my woes after losing friar tuck (my first pachy I tamed) moving on.

Okay the base speed is really lack luster, for traveling over long distances the charge can make up for this, so it's not all bad I can live with it even though it's slower than a parasaur lol.

Health pool/damage resistance. Wow this thing dies easily, my raptors at the same level didn't die this fast, and they're.... well, raptors lol the junk of the ark (I realise people like them, not saying don't use them, I'm just saying I'd rather have dilos than raptors lol).

So after first glance I figured I'd open these puppies up and try to ko something around 300% damage level 44 pachy was my first tester. I tried to ko a stegosaurus, this ended really badly. 7 consecutive full speed charges and the stegosaurus was still standing and my pachy was at 50% hp from retaliation attacks as I ran in and out. I figured hey it must nearly be ko'd so I sat there headbutting it and got clipped under its neck. It proceeded to club friar tuck to death :( NO FRIAR TUCK!

So now that friar tuck has died and I have gone and tamed 3 more pachys I get into a fight with 4 dilos between the levels of 7 and 41. In this fight I lost 2 of the 3 pachys (both sides were mate boosted) and only the male I was riding survived the fight.

Gotta say, I'm not seeing the use for these guys. As a combat mount for pvp ko'ing the fact that the start animation takes about 1.5 seconds to run then it starts running makes it so that even if I could slightly turn as I run I'm never going to hit some one who's ready for it. As a combat mount for pve their health pool and damage are way too low to be used as a viable combat mount. As a scout they are way too slow to be useful, and as a koing mount their torpor damage is really REALLY bad, after 7 stings I can ko a 12 stego with a 44 scorp, and the scorps hp pool and damage resistance are higher.

So what is their use? I could see the comedic value of smashing through a lowbies thatch hut yelling zoidbergs "woop woop woop woop" as I did so. However for any sort of practical use I can't find a place for these guys.

What has everyone else' experience been with these critters? They're definitely not what I was expecting.

As for feedback on how to make these guys useful. I'd say their torpor damage should be doubled and their charge shouldn't have a starting animation, OR the animation should stay but you should be able to turn a little to guide the ram a little more.

With a change to the charge and more torpor damage I could see myself using these guys to ko stuff. However in their current state I think my tribe is going to leave these guys alone for a while. Maybe grab a few more females as I heard they lay eggs, might find a use for their eggs.

They are only pachys, no killing-machines...

Not arguing that they should be killing machines. They just currently don't have a role to fill. If you want to ko something it's actually better to just use an xbow or even a scorpion is better.

Everything else they are just terrible at, which I'd be okay with if they filled their k.o.ing role.
I do not want them to be a killing machine, but a 44 pachy should be able to k.o. a 12 stego in 3-4 full speed charges I would think. In its current form it's just not worth anything (other than eggs).

Dilos over raptors? You're mad.

Yeah I agree. The only use for these things is to be low level tames.

I'll take dilos over raptors. Dilo can follow most places, GL with a pack of raptors in a cave.

Really tho, Dimos work in the most situations. They're just slow.

lol I'd take almost anything over raptors if I'm going to be honest. Dilos I can leave all over our tribe's yard and they won't annoy anyone. Raptors make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ton of noise, especially once you get a lot of them. That and their tails wagging will constantly clip you and rubberband you.

The only difference between the 2 is base damage and one can have a saddle. Their hp scales the same and we just use them as a meat shield for the plant species x turrets.

Dimos and Dilos are my favourite guards for our tribe's main yard, they don't get in the way, they are really fast tames (dimos are more for their crazy damage and ability to kill riders first even though they take a lot longer to tame and eat up a lot more narcotics while being tamed).

Raptors our tribe keeps 1 male and 5 females for their eggs. We stockpile raptor kibble for when inevitably we lose a mammoth to another tribe while gathering lumber for gunpowder. Even then these raptors are in a wooden shack out of everyone's way as they really piss people off when their damn tails clip you all the time. Screw raptors lol, so annoying.

Pachys are atleast not annoying, they are quiet and small so we can keep them out in the yard, however other than cannon fodder (too costly to tame a lot of them as cannon fodder) and having 4-5 females and 1 male (for the eggs I imagine as people have stated they supposedly lay eggs, I have yet to see any) they're not really worth anything. I'll be waiting for them to get buffed though, as I'd love to find a place for them in our tribe's daily activities.

Speed? Taking dilos anywhere is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pain.

Yeah I just tamed one and a dilo took 60% of its health and then 3 dragon flys almost killed it.

Guys , calm down this is patchy dedicated for low levels , dont try make from every new dino killing machine...
Bjorn_Stormcrow Sep 11, 2015 @ 10:11pm
I'm a little dissapointed to hear that the torpor damage is lackluster, I was really excited about these things as i've just started playing and they seemed like a PERFECT entry tier knock out dino. (I play on a private server with a bunch of friends who are also all starting out, and scorpions are a wee bit out of our range right now.)

I never expected them to be quite as good as a scorpion, but it would have been nice if they could at least take out other "entry tier" dino's fairly easily.

I think the 3-4 charges for a stego that got mentioned earlier might be a little much. but it def should have gone down after 7 or 8 IMO... then again, a lvl 12 stego takes a good 9 or 10 narc arrows at around that lvl to drop. I will have to do some more experimenting with this.

The only real use I can see for them right now would be for really early game, acting as something to bridge the gap between the slingshot and the narc arrows. but even then thats only a 5 level gap. Maybe if the saddle for them was at a lower tier? so they could be your main knock out method for 10 levels instead of just 5 they may serve some greater purpose then.
Zourin Sep 11, 2015 @ 10:13pm
pachy is a small and quick gang pvp type mount. Think of it as a cross between the raptor and scorpion with a high resistance to being knocked out itself.

It's also not 'yet another thing trying to murder you for sport' in the wild, which is a plus for atmosphere.

They seem to need some babying early on but for low level stuff they KO crap real fast. They themselves are pretty easy to tame, and in turn open up other avenues of tames. ( Think that they should be the new 'first tame' for lowbies after dilos.) While they are buggy as hell, being able to knock out a turtle in three hits makes killing them a whole lot easier. I tamed a 8 and after some hunting a 104 (which came out 136 with kibble) that im leveling now. Once its got some reasonable hp and more importantly, damage, then ill let you know my final verdict for late game.

I still would prefer other tames early on for practicality purposes, like a phiomia to be a ghetto fridge/poop factory, the parasaur as an all-terrain mount, and a trike as a pack animal.

Pachy comes rather late to the game, since both it and the raptor come well into the Tranq arrow phase, and both, hands down, come after taming Dimorphodons.
