funny tame stories
so, i thought, y not have make a little threat about peoples strangest/funniest tame stories, can be anything, succes or failure, funny to just plain wtf.

For mine, i was walking on my rex down a river, heading towards the mountain to try and find an arge to tame or even see a pretty rex to add to my pack, when suddenly, i look up at this hill and an albino rex litterally comes falling down the mountain, damn thing is lvl 74(highest i have ever seen a rex on my server) and just lands infront of me, as soon as i see it i rush back to base, tranq the bad girl and get to taming. never quiet had a rex drop from the heaven before :O

for me i was taming some dodos for eggs this was when alphas were added specifically the alpha rex. so im sitting there and a guy on a raptor runs by me talking about the alphas saying he wanted to hunt one. like 5 minutes later walking the dodos back to base the guy comes running on foot all his armor broken. isee the alpha rex lvl 72 coming towards us i say ♥♥♥♥ the dodos and begin sprinting back to base for my rexs to kill thst thing. im still pissed about losing my dodo army but the stuff the alpha dropped more than made up for it

Would have been my second rex ever...

my first was only level 8 or so, this one was in its 60s. I found him near a cliff along the beach, landed my Ptera and got it knocked out with Ease....

I was overcome with joy... I had my Fiance come help me protect it while I hunted prime meat (was before kibble).. everything was going perfect, got the sucker up to about 75%; when the Newbie showed up.

Promptly stole all the meat real ninja like.... by the time I killed him and got the meat back in, was down to about 35% tame.... (this was also before T.E. effected levels like it does now)
it wasn't over there. He found the closest beach spawn, and started zerging us. eventually, he won... he got smart about his attack about 10 deaths in... he ran straight for the rex with my guards in tow... my own pets killed the rex. he screamed " FREE THE DINOSAURS!! THEY ARE NOT OUR SLAVES!!!" the entire time.

to say the least, I got ALOT smarter about where/when/how I tame, and usually bring a ton of thatch+fence to erect around my tames now, to prevent any Newbie interference....

And now that I have given a constructive add to the thread; shameless Ad for just-recently-open-to-public server: http://steamcommunity.com/app/346110/discussions/10/517141624279912186/

My first attempt at taming a raptor once I hit lv15 and could make the saddle. I will be first to admit I was a total noob back then, the game was in its 2nd day of early access and everybody was figuring stuff out like brave scientists... No wiki or youtube back then :)

Me and my friend spotted a pack of raptors just up the river from our base. We got our tranq arrows and headed out on an adventure. It was dark so I suggested we keep our distance and wait till sunrise. We stalked them till one of the raptors got isolated and went after him.

We got the first one down in 4 arrows and hadnt aggroed the other 3 raptors about 50m away. Step1 of our plan was a success and we put some narco on him and went to get raw meat. We spotted some parasaurs across the river and decided to swim over and kill them.

Things took a turn for the worse here, as I started to swim I spotted one of the raptors coming towards the river edge. I shouted at my friend to turn around and retreat.... He didnt hear me properly and kept heading towards the raptors.

Then he shouts 'Raptors' while im laughing at him running in the opposite direction. He panics and starts leading the raptors back towards our tame.... 'Oh crap' I thought as my friend was killed in seconds and one of the raptors started chasing me.

I knew it was a race I wouldnt win so I turned around and started hitting him with tranq arrows. I took a few hits but I downed him in 3 shots. Awsome I though 'Just knocked out a second raptor, this wont be a total loss'.

My friends dead body was beside the first tame, which now had the 2 raptors in close proximity and all of the meat and narco we had was lost inside the first tame. Unphased by the situation I was determined to tame this second raptor I had knocked out.

I got my friend to start getting narco berries while I went to get raw meat. I spotted a Turtle beside our tatch house and started shooting him with stone arrows. Then out of nowhere 3 more turtles came out of the water and I only had about 20 arrows on me (Noob Alert).

I called my friend for help because the turtles were now attacking our base. He had just died thow during the raptor incident so was naked and useless... But bravely we fought on! During our epic battle against the 4 ninja turtles, the 2nd raptor woke up and killed both of us.

So we ended up having 2 failed attempts at catching raptors, both killed with gear lost and our base destroyed.... 10/10 would not mess with ninja turtles again :)

My first Carno tame was a stroke of dumb luck. This was back in the days before crossbows, Alphas, and when everything was scary and new.

Found a level 18 Carno when the highest level on my server at the time was 36. Found it munching on some Trikes on a nearby bluff. I had a stack of Tranqs and a fully repaired bow, so I thought let's give it a shot. Managed to sink about 9 arrows into it before it finished its meal and started to charge at me. I underestimated the speed of the Carno (silly noobie past me), hit it with 2 more tranqs to the face, panicked, then forgot there was a cliff on the side of me. I managed to get one more shot in midair, as the Carno chased after me in freefall, before I cratered into the ground, dying instantly.

Dreading that I'll have to find my backpack with a very pissed off Carno guarding it, I had 4 tamed Trikes follow me to the spot where I died, expecting to use them to take it down while I search for my gear. I found my corpse, right next to a sleeping Carno. The Carno went unconscious in mid-air the moment I hit the ground.

Tamed it with no trouble afterwards with the bit of Primes I could collect from nearby Stegos and spare Raw Meat I had on hand. A lucky break after completely breaking my legs on that fall :steamhappy:

MAN I can't tell you how nice it was to have all those megas gone we lived right next to a sea cave and around there you could wpot just 20 megas (no joking!) just cruising right along the very ends of the shallows. It was so crowded that if you chummed for one (when you kill a coel and use it to bait a mega to beach itself) there would be like 10 coming after you.

My husband and I play on a private server I host. We had JUST tamed our first Ptera, which took literally hours. We actually weren't yet at a level high enough to make a saddle for it, but we were going to leave it sit in our compound and gain some levels until we were. So we tame it, ride triumphantly back, having dealt with repeated scorpions, raptors, freezing temperatures, and I go to make it stop following me... and somehow instead set it to aggressive, which causes it to zip off after this high level bronto that had thus far been peacefully wandering around for literally weeks nearby. In a panic, I start mashing buttons, and somehow set ALL our critters to hostile (that was a fun time), though luckily the only one outside the fence was my raptor, and that was how we discovered she was strong enough to kill brontos on her own. The Ptera, however, was not, and died in a hurry. Took me a while to be willing to undergo all that work again.

Ironically, taming another one much later, I was sort of haphazardly shooting at this Ptera that's flying by overhead, mostly to practice with the bow. It takes off over a ridge, and I don't really think much of it. About a minute later I'm making my way up over that same area, since it's where we have our base, and I'm like... what is that? What's that weird thing sticking out of that rock?... and oh my god, it's the BIRD. I didn't think I had landed any hits at all, they were so far away and the sun was in my eyes, but I must have landed them all. I will never make a shot that good again, I promise you. We tamed her promptly, and she's served us well.

That reminds me of a story as well. When there were 50000+ megalodons, and me and my friend in our tiny tribe were noobish and wanted to tame one. We had just obtained the saddle from a nice player who helped us, because we needed a behemoth gate. And what do you need for said gate? Oil, and we had never been able to get it before. So, while we were researching how to obtain a megalodon, I found a way called "chumming" which you kill a coel, stand on shallow water or the beach and wait for a shark to come by. Well, I was stupid and went deeper than your expected... with a coel weighting me down. I turned around to talk to me friend, and be silly after about 5+ minutes because we were arguing if it'd work or not, when I turned around again, I was SCREAMING because 5 SHARKS WERE COMING RIGHT AT ME! I ran back onto land and dropped the coel in a dazed panic, and since we were so far out we couldn't get them to shore. xD No megas were caught that day, but the next day we tried again, this time me hokding the bait ON THE BEACH THIS TIME!! I went afk a little bit while my friend hunted down stegos and brontos near our base for prime to get the tame ready (this was before kibble ofc). When I got back, I freaked out because there was a MEGALODON RIGHT INFRONT OF ME. She started coming back, just when I started giggling like a little girl because the megalodon couldn't swim any closer to me since I was on land, and was in just the amount of reach to bite me.. when I realized it wasn't biting ME, it ate the coel right out of my hands!!! It was sooo cute and since it was alone and stuck (very hard to do!) we tamed it. Sadly, we lost Rosie the next day because of the water-creatures-above-water-die glitch... that we ofc had no idea about again!! Sooo we just traded for oil :P We just couldn't keep megalodons!!

Best one I had, our private server was running at 0.5, so lvl 60-63 was the max levels there. I'm out on my Saber with a bunch of narcotics, tranq arrows, a metal pick, and a pike (to kill sharks for prime meat). I'm going along a beach and see a lvl 63 Trex come out of the forest right in front of me. I'm thinking "this isn't good". I aim, it roars, then collapses unconcious. I'm confused as heck and check in the forest. Find 5 dead scorpions. It killed them but the last strike was enough to knock him out just as I walked up. So on with the narcotics, on with the meat from the scorpions, and got myself a Free T-rex.
