my first was only level 8 or so, this one was in its 60s. I found him near a cliff along the beach, landed my Ptera and got it knocked out with Ease....
I was overcome with joy... I had my Fiance come help me protect it while I hunted prime meat (was before kibble).. everything was going perfect, got the sucker up to about 75%; when the Newbie showed up.
Promptly stole all the meat real ninja like.... by the time I killed him and got the meat back in, was down to about 35% tame.... (this was also before T.E. effected levels like it does now)
it wasn't over there. He found the closest beach spawn, and started zerging us. eventually, he won... he got smart about his attack about 10 deaths in... he ran straight for the rex with my guards in tow... my own pets killed the rex. he screamed " FREE THE DINOSAURS!! THEY ARE NOT OUR SLAVES!!!" the entire time.
to say the least, I got ALOT smarter about where/when/how I tame, and usually bring a ton of thatch+fence to erect around my tames now, to prevent any Newbie interference....
And now that I have given a constructive add to the thread; shameless Ad for just-recently-open-to-public server: http://steamcommunity.com/app/346110/discussions/10/517141624279912186/

Me and my friend spotted a pack of raptors just up the river from our base. We got our tranq arrows and headed out on an adventure. It was dark so I suggested we keep our distance and wait till sunrise. We stalked them till one of the raptors got isolated and went after him.
We got the first one down in 4 arrows and hadnt aggroed the other 3 raptors about 50m away. Step1 of our plan was a success and we put some narco on him and went to get raw meat. We spotted some parasaurs across the river and decided to swim over and kill them.
Things took a turn for the worse here, as I started to swim I spotted one of the raptors coming towards the river edge. I shouted at my friend to turn around and retreat.... He didnt hear me properly and kept heading towards the raptors.
Then he shouts 'Raptors' while im laughing at him running in the opposite direction. He panics and starts leading the raptors back towards our tame.... 'Oh crap' I thought as my friend was killed in seconds and one of the raptors started chasing me.
I knew it was a race I wouldnt win so I turned around and started hitting him with tranq arrows. I took a few hits but I downed him in 3 shots. Awsome I though 'Just knocked out a second raptor, this wont be a total loss'.
My friends dead body was beside the first tame, which now had the 2 raptors in close proximity and all of the meat and narco we had was lost inside the first tame. Unphased by the situation I was determined to tame this second raptor I had knocked out.
I got my friend to start getting narco berries while I went to get raw meat. I spotted a Turtle beside our tatch house and started shooting him with stone arrows. Then out of nowhere 3 more turtles came out of the water and I only had about 20 arrows on me (Noob Alert).
I called my friend for help because the turtles were now attacking our base. He had just died thow during the raptor incident so was naked and useless... But bravely we fought on! During our epic battle against the 4 ninja turtles, the 2nd raptor woke up and killed both of us.
So we ended up having 2 failed attempts at catching raptors, both killed with gear lost and our base destroyed.... 10/10 would not mess with ninja turtles again :)
Found a level 18 Carno when the highest level on my server at the time was 36. Found it munching on some Trikes on a nearby bluff. I had a stack of Tranqs and a fully repaired bow, so I thought let's give it a shot. Managed to sink about 9 arrows into it before it finished its meal and started to charge at me. I underestimated the speed of the Carno (silly noobie past me), hit it with 2 more tranqs to the face, panicked, then forgot there was a cliff on the side of me. I managed to get one more shot in midair, as the Carno chased after me in freefall, before I cratered into the ground, dying instantly.
Dreading that I'll have to find my backpack with a very pissed off Carno guarding it, I had 4 tamed Trikes follow me to the spot where I died, expecting to use them to take it down while I search for my gear. I found my corpse, right next to a sleeping Carno. The Carno went unconscious in mid-air the moment I hit the ground.
Tamed it with no trouble afterwards with the bit of Primes I could collect from nearby Stegos and spare Raw Meat I had on hand. A lucky break after completely breaking my legs on that fall
There was that many of them they were beaching themselves trying to kill us
Ironically, taming another one much later, I was sort of haphazardly shooting at this Ptera that's flying by overhead, mostly to practice with the bow. It takes off over a ridge, and I don't really think much of it. About a minute later I'm making my way up over that same area, since it's where we have our base, and I'm like... what is that? What's that weird thing sticking out of that rock?... and oh my god, it's the BIRD. I didn't think I had landed any hits at all, they were so far away and the sun was in my eyes, but I must have landed them all. I will never make a shot that good again, I promise you. We tamed her promptly, and she's served us well.
