Can someone else host an unofficial server that someone already started?
Hi there. I'm not sure if someone already posted about this question. But I have a friend that is running an unofficial server through Ark server manager. Since he doesnt play on that server much, I was wondering if there's a way that I can host that same specific server on my Ark server manager instead?

Your friend has to send you the current save and configuration, then you can start the same server

so he did do that, and i already extracted all the files he provided me for the servers he was running, but then when I transferred everything on my ark server manager folder and ran the server, it wasn't the same saved server that i was playing on. Im not sure if we missed a step or no

What we did is that I created a new profile for this one server, and then clicked on "set location" and chose the extracted folder files he sent me, then installed into the profile. And then we edited the rules and stuff just like the one from his server. We saved it and then I ran the server. When I joined my server, it wasn't the same saved server that I was playing on. Did we miss a step?

I don't use ASM. I would install the server and then copy the Saved folder, the startserver.bat and PlayersJoinNoCheckList.txt (only necessary for whitelist) from the old server.
Maybe someone who is familiar with ASM can help.

ASM tends to Not like it when you configure the .ini's manualy... it will overwrite them rather then adopt them.

Yeahh thats what I feel like that's happening. Everytime I put my friend's files into mine, it just overwrites it.

Just add the mod ids (if you have any) everything else can always be changed retroactively
