i got very good internet and a decent PC yet ark always seems to take a ♥♥♥♥ when an update comes out, same for a lot of people, yeah, people, there are other people in the world other than yourself, weird right?
Seems to be a very small portion of the total ark player base who has trouble which is evidence of user end issues and not developer/game issues.
Well not really... they may pass through the same problematic nodes
Causing spikes.
I get slowdowns while downloading Ark that I dont get with other steam games not due to PC or my provider.
Many people probably did what I did and quit playing, I recently came back for sp and lan with friends.
Never had a problem downloading or installing ark nor any other steam game on my PC. My laptop is a different story, it uses win10 instead of win7 and has a much slower drive. It hangs up downloading and installing constantly on many different games. Desktop was built in 2012, laptop bought in 2016.
It's a user end issue.
Speak of the Devil! There's another update today! YAY!
Smaller, rapid changes are also somewhat easier to troubleshoot if ♥♥♥♥ goes wrong. As opposed to a massive monthly bundle.
But essential updates would always get pushed.... like map fixes.
You know you can play ark without updating right? Start steam, pause download, go into ark files and launch with shootergame.exe. If your play time is as limited as you say, single player is your best bet because of server tame and structure timers. You can update in your off time, it only takes two seconds to start the update and let it run while you do other things.
