Catapult needs a buff!

Catapult deals only a meesly 700 damage to stone tier while the ballista deals 1200+ damage to stone tier (wiki). Why?

Shouldn't the ballista be an all round effective weapon: Good vs dinos and structure while the catapult being more effective against structures and perhaps less so than the ballista against dinos?

E.g. If the Ballista deals 1200 damage to both dinos and stone tier then perhaps Catapults could do something like 1800 damage to stone tier but only 600 damage to dinos. Something like that so they both have their uses. Right now there is ansolutely no reason to use a catapult. It sucks. Its hard to see where it shoots, you miss more than with the ballista, and it deals far less damage.

Right now the catapult sucks. You can tell because I've seen not one nerf post about it on the forums. It needs a buff!

well Correction balista did 1200 damage to stone then got nerf twice dealing 800 i think

no way balista does 1200 damage. not in SP anyway. I remember trying to harpoon a shark with it and wound up wasting 18/20 rounds!

Its a stationary turret like the Ballista

I do agree that it needs a buff.

But of course it's not as easy to aim, since it's intended as an indirect fire weapon.

They have decent damage and less cost than balista but i think they have more damage than balista not sure

Not sure of the damage vs dinos, I just took the wiki damage for stone. I feel like the catapult should be a better option as it is a siege weapon and while so is the ballista, i think the ballista should be strong vs dinos.

I can't remember but I think I was able to spear Spinos down in about 6-8 shots with the ballista.

If thats the case then a lot of things suck.......

dont forget that the ammo for the catapult is cheaper than from the ballista.

Also does somebody know the spawn id for the catapult and the boulder? i want to do some test with it to see or OP's numbers are correct

Boulder
Deals 700 Damage to Stone Tier
30 × Stone 3 × Metal Ingot

Now do ur mat and see if what u said of buff makes sense

Most new things don't get IDs until much later.
Just spawn in the materials for it and build it at a Smithy.

in the description it says that catapult is best vs stone structures. it doesn't say that for ballista.
I think they should give the ballista bolt AP bonus to deal more damage to dinos but less to stone.
also, they should have nerfed it for primitive only. just like they did with gigano...

Armor piercing wouldn't actually make it hurt Dino's more.

They'd need to be impact fragment type things in order to really ♥♥♥♥ their ♥♥♥♥ up.
