2. overwrite
3. see 1 where to find saves/backup
I appear to have confused myself. The "steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\SavedArksLocal" is obviously not where my scheduled saves go. That folder appears to be saving the gamestate (or maybe just my playerstate) on various servers, as you can see in image 4
Image 1 clearly shows my scheduled saves.
Image 2 shows the TCAdmin restore menu. I can only choose to restore from a list of the recent scheduled saves. So you're saying my manual save will show up in that list if I execute the cheat saveworld command?
Image 3 shows the "[server IP redacted]>ShooterGame>Saved>SavedArks" folder. I've no idea what these are. Frustrating that TCAdmin won't allow you to sort by name, created, or modified.
So that's all left me quite confused. I'd like know that I can do a manual save, and then restore it if needed. Just want to make absolutely sure I'm not going to stuff something up before I mess around with it.
The SaveWorld command forces the server to overwrite the TheIsland.ark(or what ever map you are running) and it creates a new save file named TheIsland_Date_xx.xx.xx.ark.
Scheduled saves overwrite your TheIsland.ark file every time they occure.(on mine, auto save occure every 30 minutes).
Your server will always boot from the TheIsland.ark file regardless of its state. To be able to restore a save you would have to rename what ever previous save to TheIsland.ark then delete the existing boot save.
Following this logic, I would assume that your manager software does this operation when you execute a restore data from the Data Manager section in Image 2.
I also noticed a drop down menu nexto restore type, you might have an option that only restores a save and not the entire backup. Since an entire backup might not be in the save state that you want to restore.
Keep in mind that if you run a SaveWorld command and then a scheduled save happens, you will have to restore from the latest created save from the SaveWorld command(named TheIsland_Date_xx.xx.xx.ark)
To be able to restore to a previous save state, you would have to select the save by looking at its date creation then restore from it.
I hope this helps.
It really does. Thanks for taking the time to explain it in detail. I think I have a much better understanding now.
