Enable wandering, any reason for it?

I am curious as to whether there is a purpose for the 'Enable Wandering' option, or whether it's purely cosmetic to have the dinos/creatures wandering round freely.
Also, if you have dinos/creatures with wandering enabled, do you still have to feed them (through feeding trough or their inventory) or will they gather food themselves?

Wander is useful for large base protection. I have a couple sabers and carnos walking around on neutral

Some cretures gather mats when wandering and it is also for breeding

They have to be wandering in order to breed.

Creatures like the Gigantopithicus gather Fiber as they walk around and eat from bushes.

Srsly tho get a Gigantopithicus. You will never ever have to worry about Fiber again.

Psht, dont say that too loud/often or devs will nerf it to 1 fiber per hour and make fiber spoiling!

Never mention anything about nerfing. That's the only thing the devs see on the forums. They have a nerf filter in their heads to highlight the threads containing nerf whines

Last time i put wanderng in my base i crashed anyone who came by...

Let a monkey wander around your base and it will gather berries. get a couple of them and they'll gather enough berries to keep your herbivores fed.

No other nerfs needed than Giganoto nerf.

Guard Dinos (and breeding), yes you have to feed them unless its a carnivore and they kill something (they'll eat it to if you didn't turn off their gather ability).

if I put them on wandering, how far do they go..?
can you lose them by doing so..?

also neutral stance, is that the default "defense" stance for the base protecting dino's..?

Wandering would be nice if the they would find a solution for the "wall is not rendered yet, I'll just clip through" problem. I also had a wandering doedi at the beach that managed to drown itself.

Besides for breeding purposes I like to let my 100 Dodos wander because it would be silly to have them all standing still constantly.
