Tips on knocking out a giganotosaurus?

I found a lvl 8 male giganotosaurus and thought I was well prepared to tame it. I had 241 tranq darts and parked myself about 2 meters above the giganoto and unloaded all the darts into it at roughly 8 to 9 seconds inbetween shots. It was still standing after that so I quickly made 100 tranq arrows on the spot and continued to unload all of the arrows into it at the same rate as the darts. The giganoto was still awake after all of those tranq darts and arrows and I had to abandon my mission to tame it.
Anybody have any info as to what I would need to actually take one of these down? I have checked the wiki, but with my recent experience, I'm not sure the numbers there are accurate.

Read my comments above, I explain in a link why you shouldn't be using any narcotics at all to tame it

Dont wait between shots at all I helped take down 5 gigas so far. Their torp drops crazy fast the 95 we teamed dropped 350+ torp at a time when taming. Giga so far is the only dino you need to not wait between shots for. :)

We have tranqed three on our server a lvl 10-15-35 and currently gearing up to tranq a lvl 85. I raised the resistance of the dinosaurs on the server to 3.0 it took 350 arrows for the lvl 10 and about 200 narcs to keep the monster asleep. They do not wake up happy. The lvl 10 two chomped a lvl 255 quetzel with 60k health. He went to sleep with 350;000 hp. Shoot him until he falls then shoot him some more them drug him until he tames. Put stimulants in his inventory so when it wakes you can stop the torpor from raising then have fun eating everything in your path.

Tamed a giga level 15 today with 90 tranq arrowsfrom crosbow and 32 tranq darts from sniper (primitive)
It wasnt so hard, i took my friend with level 250 petra, picked him up and he shot it, now its something like level 50.

Since this thread has already been necro'd, and the OP deleted the "secret", exactly what what he doing with the berries? Just keeping the torpor on a steady rise, or dumping a bunch of them in? Thx.

Keeep, after the beast fell of, we puted prime meat (raw), we had only 2, so i stayed with it, qns my friend killed a bronto, then, tamed trike and took a lot of narcoberrys (350), it wan on unofficial server, and idk what the Owner did, but after 3 times it eated, he woke up, tamed, all if the narcoberrys spent, and im sure that in official server you will need much more narcotics for it to tame, and to keep it asleep. Well you guys are missing the point that he was using tranq darts which has a longer torpor application time. So technically if he was doing 8 seconds between shots it would work, the problem is that he probably isn't getting the timing right. Even going one or two seconds over undoes all the work because the torpor drop is phenomenal. Therefore it's just best to make plenty of darts and tranq arrows and pump them into the giga as quick as you can fire. Don't let there ever be a gap.

Also, it's the knocking it that is the challenge, keeping it out is the easy part. You will need lots of narcotics and the torpor can drop from full to empty in a minute or so, but refilling the torpor can take more than half an hour, so just figure out how much narcotic you need to fully fill its torpor (check calculator) and sit watching the torpor drop. Once it gets under say 1000 or 500 then quickly feed it that set number of narcotics and you won't have to look at it again for a long time.

When you solo-tame a giga always use the crossbow as it can fire faster and you will be able to build up a bigger topor buffer.
It is extremely hard to do it with tranq-darts solo.

If however you are more then one guy shooting you can use tranq-darts since you are stacking together.

But it also depends on the type of weapons you have. You should rather use the 200% x-box than the 100% longneck ...

I have tamed a few gigas but I can confirm it is indeed possible for one to be bugged and not able to be downed.. We currently have one on my server.. we have had 5 people tranqing it for ages we all tracked this giga down as a player reported it was bugged and we can confirm it is indeed bugged after wasting literally 1500 arrows on a level 11 giga xD I guess its time to use an admin command and turn this giga inside out :( Also we do not ever wait for those 8 seconds i dont really see the point just fire at will! and no Will I'm not talking about you... go home your drunk xD

I've solo tamed two gigas, one a level 1 and one a level 104. My best advice, use the best xbows you can get, ascendant or better. Xbows are better because they reload/shoot faster. Use the Dododex app to get a rough idea how may tranq arrows it will take to KO your giga. Shoot non-stop as fast as the xbows will reload until you are just over the required tranq shots reported by Dododex. The reason I say this it that you really dont want to risk having an arrow in flight when it goes down...the late shot will hurt your TE. If however you cant shoot non-stop then obviously you may have to shoot it more times, just adapt to the situation. Trapping a giga is really the best option, as this allows you to position for un-interrupted shots.
