You CAN place a crop box directly onto the paracers saddle itself.
You CANNOT place a crop box on any item that is attached to the saddle, foundation, seiling etc, of any material. I've tried them all.
@Jack, I've managed to make it work with a crop box in each corner placed diagonally and sticking out to the side. You can then still place foundations in the middle and take ceilings from them. It's not ideal, but it works.
My war-paracer with two species x plants on ceilings hanging off the side of the platform would argue with this. At first, it wouldn't let me put the plots down. I had to leave the render area and return to plant them (the distance was only a few hundred feet, not very far at all).
Edit: To clarify, I have a 2x2 metal hut built on my paracer. I have two ceilings, one on each side, hanging off the front 2 foundations. The crop plots are on the ceilings. The entire structure is metal, and I have a ballista parked up top for good measure. For protection and ease of access to refertilize the Species X, the walls attached to the ceilings are windows.

So using crop boxes placed on catwalks, I created something fairly akin to the War Paracer pictured above, except with 6 PSX giving me 360 degree coverage and maximum over kill. When the plants grew, I took it out for a test drive, which was a total failure. with all the plants set to attack all targets and high range, I wandered off down the beach, past loads of dinos of all shapes and sizes. not a single shot was fired by any of the plants. I tried climbing rocks to angle them up or down, still no joy. Until I came across a Bronto, then one solitary shot got fired by one plant. This angered the Bronto who then attacked me and with a couple of tail swipes as I desperatly tried to turn around and flee, he destroyed about half of everything on the platform.
Back to the drawing board. I discussed the problem with a friend on the server, and he suggested that they were probably too high. I was dubious, as I've seen PSX raining death down from the sky from the back of a quetzal. Nonetheless, I created a sort of of skirt platform around my paracer by dropping pillars down from a ceiling, ceilings off of that, and then catwalks and crop boxes, one on each corner. This puts the plants roughly around the Paracers knees, and about the same height as the ones I have all around my base which work to devestating effect.
Waited for the plants to grow, again took it out for a drive, and even more of a failure. again all plants set to attack all targets, again maximum range. This time no shots were fired at all, at anything. I walked right up to everything from dodos to Brontos. Nothing, nada, null, zilch.
What on earth is going wrong? Has anyone at all had any actual joy getting PSX both growing on their Paracer saddles, and actually doing their job?
Any help at all is appreciated.
Species-x on top of the cabin were also shooting a lot. Problem are only crop plots too far left and right from the Paracer middle.
Paracer is level 60, dealing nice damage directly and is quite fast with not too fast stamina drain.
Named him AT-AT and feels like that hehe
