Breeding and Temperature
Hello, I am pretty new to this game and especially new to breeding. I understand how to get the eggs and what not, but the trouble I am having is understanding the temperature. I know how to see the air temperature, but I am having trouble figuring out exactly what the temperature becomes when in a shelter, or near a heat source like a campfire or a standing torch. Is there a way to see what the temperature is when it is modified? I should mention I am nowhere near the point in the game to use AC or anything to make it easy.

Also any help understand the different insulations and their exact effects would be appreciated as well!

hypo means cold
hyper means heat
right now unless you are using quetz eggs to hatch the best bet is to make a ring of eitehr standing torches or campfires in a room in your house, turn off or on as needed, if its to hot and all the campfires are off, pick up the egg for a bit, then place it down later, this will not effect the eggs health if its in your inventory, or incubation speed

From what I gathered, the temperature never changes, what changes is the insulation.
If you press H the temperature displayed will always be the same.
Insulation on the other hand will vary (being close to a fire grant hypothermal insulation, being close to AC grants hypertermal insulation AND hypothermal) and is displayed when you open your inventory.
Insulation in general will act as a "buffer" to the allowed temperature, even if the temperature itself is unchanged.
Example:
A quetzal egg (hatching temp 6 degress C) can be hatched in a tropical biome (around 25 degrees) if 6 AC units are close to it (providing 6000 hyper/hypo thermal insulation).

How exactly does the insulation buffer? Like how much hyperthermal do you need to get the temperature effectively one point lower?

the temprature doesnt get lower,it can be 40C but with enough ac units you dont even notice it. the problem is the vanilla ac is crap it lasts about 2 floors, we use aku shima and i have a large breeding station build with only 2 acc thats enough as they have a very far range( about 600 hypo and 300 hyper inside).
