At the tops of mountains by collecting the red flowers
In the swamps
by collecting the red cattail-like plants (Plant Species X seeds are a very rare drop).
by gathering the immature X-plant. It is red and has several red bulbs and a guaranteed drop of seeds.

Basically, you have to dive to the deepest depths to tame two mosasaurs, a male and a female. Then, you have to beach the female mosasaur on the northern-most point of the main island, with the male close by in the water. The reason for this is because mosasaurs, like todays turtles, lay eggs on the sand. However, UNLIKE turtles, they require freezing temperatures to do so (Note that the mother mosasaur will die due to being beached, and the father mosasaur usually loses 90-95% of its levels due to greif).
When they lay their eggs (approximately 4 real life days), you must guard them until they hatch. This is difficult, because mosasaur eggs attract Giganotosaurus. You must expect, and be able to repel, at least a Giganotosaurus every 2-3 hours. They will be in an enraged state even at full HP, as the presence of the mosasaur eggs drives them crazy.
Finally, when the baby mosas hatch (so cute!) you must get them to the water quickly (approximately 10 seconds), or they will die. The only way to do this, is by carrying them with a Quetzal.
The babies must then be fed until they reach juvenile stage, which should take 2 real life days. Once they reach this stage, you have to tame a high-ish lvl bronto, and use it to harvest berries. Fill up its inventory with 40 stacks of narco berries, and then bring it out into the water. You then let the bronto slowly drown. When it is drowned, you make the baby mosasaur eat the carcass.
After that, you simply wait for the baby mosasaur to poop, and inside the poop, you will find 1x plant species X seed, which is used for the plant turret! This only works once per baby mosasaur, but luckily you can repeat the entire process as many times as you want.
Enjoy :)
I second this.
Probably not the most efficient way, but I did get a bunch of seeds when going on a killing spree in the swamp on my bronto.
This is true. But the method I posted is considerably easier.
Also, they need to nerf plant species Y, as it is, it is too easy to get considering how good it is...
I have seen it destroy entire bases in minutes.
The undead are easily brought down by rocket launchers and C4, only people too lazy to farm the mats for these are whining.
Plant species Y's nuke function is just too much. A radius of 30 foundations is a bit too much, it should go down to maybe 26 or so.
We have around 400 seeds now and we dont even farm them.
In the swamp are x-plants that you can harvest (6-10) seeds per plant and you can harvest it with the e-key. If you fly around with a ptera and just harvest these you can get around 40-60 in 10 minutes.
I hear plant species XXX will look like across between Vin Diesel and certain phallic objects.. I dread its arrival.
