[Fan Dossier] - Edaphosaurus
My first fan dossier:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=547195207

Basic Information:
Common Name: Edaphosaurus
Species Name: Edaphosaurus agricola
Time: Early Permian
Diet: Herbivore
Temperament: Docile

Tameable: Yes
Rideable: No
Utilities: Farming Aid, Midwife, Gatherer, Hypothermia/Hyperthermia Protection

Wild:
The Edaphosaurus is a synapsid that often inhabits the more arid areas of the islands, unlike its counterpart, Dimetrodon. Due to its tendency to live in large herds, predation of this species is uncommon, which has led Edaphosaurus to adopt a more sedentary lifestyle. It is quite common for this species to bask in the sun before proceeding to eat whatever plant that it can find.

Domesticated:
Many peaceful tribes around the island use Edaphosaurus as a major farming aid. Due to its efficient digestion system, it consumes less food than most herbivores. Unlike other herbivores, Edaphosaurus has developed a liking towards the Advanced Crops around the island, gathering those types of plants, instead of berries. Lastly, its sail can be used to regulate the temperature necessary for incubation, giving life to new babies!

Additional Information:
It is unknown as to why Edaphosaurus has developed such a liking towards the Advanced Crops on the Island, especially Savoroots and Rockarrots. Perhaps consumption of these starchy crops allows Edaphosaurus to store up more energy for later use. This would allow the Edaphosaurus to eat even less often than other herbivores.

Author's Notes:
This is my first fan dossier, so I was pretty excited to work on it. One of my inspirations to create this dossier on this sail-backed synapsid was from Jat's comment that Dimetrodon could be used as a midwife. So, why shouldn't an herbivore pelycosaur work similarly as well, since they both have sails?

In addition, Edaphosaurus can serve the same function of temperature regulation as Dimetrodon, but it would not be used for combat or for long range treks, since it would get torn apart by a predator very easily.

Another inspiration was from how herbivores picked up berries and advanced crop seeds, so I thought about how a creature would fit into the game if it provided advanced crops right off the bat. However, giving Edaphosaurus too much efficiency would make farming useless, so I assume it could provide more yield from crop plots, autonomously gathering it, and then storing it in their inventories, preserving it for much longer than a survivor would. Edaphosaurus can also gather from bushes autonomously, but it would be extremely poor compared to crop plots. That wouldn't matter, as it would be the only one that can gather such foodstuffs. Of course, an Edaphosaurus would always prioritize a farmer's crop plots over random bushes.

While I'm not an artist, I did try as hard as I could to make a good dossier on my first try.

Thanks for reading, everyone!

Mmmmk. I'll be sure to try that section.

P.S: Can a forum mod move this post to Suggestions & Feedback please? Thanks!
