then i go tame and stake out a few dodos and dilos to appease it
I'm kind of a new, player, so I don't understand what you guys mean by "kite it away". And because I'm new I don't have any tamed dinos.
"Kite it away" means make it chase you so you can lead it away from your base.
I would definitly do it, catch a live player, and throw them down to the rex!
If you're playing single player or a server admin you can put the following in your Game.ini
NPCReplacements=(FromClassName="DodoRex_Character_BP_C",ToClassName="Dodo_Character_BP_C")
To replace him with a regular Dodo or put this:
NPCReplacements=(FromClassName="DodoRex_Character_BP_C",ToClassName="")
To replace him with nothing (ie nothing spawns at all). I suspect you'll still get the music and the "DodoRex Has Appeared" type message but what gets spawned is just a regular 'ole dodo or nothing.
Edit: Those have to be all one line and they should be after this line:
