Fall Damage
Just wanted to see where the rest of the community stood on fall damage... Personally I feel that its very unforgiving and glitchy. I feel like falling 5 feet loses you 1/10 of your health, which, if you're going for realism i snt realistic. I think the falling is clunky and broken and needs to be turned down.

I think fall damage is fine you should be able to break your legs falling from two storeys high.

Sure you should... but not im speaking of large drops im talking about the tiny drops that do alot of damage. Secondly where my base is located there is a 10 foot deep river below. Every time I jump I lose half my life which does not make sense because im falling into water, at only 20 feet high and I do that in real life... Rope swings into lakes and such well over 20 feet yeah it hurts if you fall wrong but we're suppose to be humans in a world with Dinos we have to be tougher and we're not

It's fine, if not underpowered. Fell from a quetzal like 500 feet (4seconds fall time) yesterday and lived( granted with 500 HP)

I think it's fine as well. just be careful when running down mountains ;)

I dunno what tiny falls you guys are talking about doing such damage. I jump down from the second story roof/balcony above my forge all the time and take no damage. Getting off my rex, which is a bit higher than two-stories, if I just jump straight down without sliding down his back leg, I'll take a little damage, but not enough to even see on my HP symbol.

I think it's perfectly fine...

i feel mvm speed should reduce fall damage (not much, 0.5% per level in mvm speed would go a long way). Reason for this is that the higher your mvm speed, the more likely you are to hurt yourself on an horizontal jump. My build is mostly mvm speed and sprinting can be lethal even on flat surfaces if theres a rock that decide to load in my fast as i sprint and end up running on it / jumping from it as if it was a ramp.

I dont go high, but i stay in the air a rather long time, and generally either break my legs or die in the process xD. No other stats in the game increase your chances to die as even half as much as mvm speed.

Over a year later and still no fix ... falling like minecraft slowfall(gliding) and taking a ton of damage is game breaking IMO .. rather tired of losing a dino cause it cant turn fast enough to avoid a rock that sends it 10 feet in the air for a 50 foot distance and then takes 1/3 of its life..... not to mention just running around on foot can kill you if you arent careful ... gravity is real .. check it out DEVs.

Allocate your points better.

I have jumped from the upper limit of the map and survived multiple times.

At end game many stats are uncessary so mind wipe and allocate better rather than have stupidly high run speed or melee or have those stats but don't complain about fall dmg.

by your logic, at end game health is useles (yet you advice to spec in it? ) because we would be on a dino 24/7 and hence take no single damage from attacks at all UNLESS we somehow manage to anger a flock of dimos

unless you want him to spec health? just for the fall damage? better off with a archie (parachute dino) won't you think?

You are not on a dino 24/7. Caving, being off dino to harvest something and a wild you didnt see attacks, accidentally dismounting mid air (I know parachute but no need), accidentally falling off a cliff. Player attacking on PvP server. HP is a good buffer for accidents that would otherwise kill you.

Some other stats are absolutely useless end game.

*cough* you can dismount the dino before you hit the ground and it wont take fall damage *cough* unmounted dinos take 0 fall damage so at least the devs give us that.

how can you dismount by accident?

i use z for forward
i use s for backward
i use q for strafe left
i use d for strafe right
i switched mounting from e to o

even with a 7.4 earthquake that makes my hand move 10 centimeter, i still can't dismount by accident, yet for dismounting i only have to slide my hand.
if you keep your dismount next to your "move forward" button, then you are asking to fall off

when you have 1300 hours like me, or 1900 hours like you you should know the map by heart. falling of a cliff, shouldn't happen and if it does there is good ol trusted archie again..the re-usebale parachute.

caving,we do with 2 and we are allways on dino untill the end. i on my megaloceros to kill everything, my friend on his direwolf to eat every corpse. so no dismounting there (or it would be for the artifact)
