Suggestion: Option to make feeding trough self filling
I am playing on a private server with some friends and it can happen that noone is playing for several days. We tried to reduce the food consumption to zero but then you can´t tame dinos anymore.

An option to make the feeding troughs always full would be great so that the dinos in your base don´t die if you don´t feed them every few days.

Sooooo... You want pets but don't want the responsability? Do you have a dog?

My dinos can last a week or more without me feeding them o.0

when in stasis (no one around) your dinos eat very little or possibly not at all. the food in the trough spoils though. we need pellets and pellet dispensers for longer lasting food. the trough was a HUGE convenience when introduced, but imo we need to take the idea further.

The dinos just need to be trainable to go out harvest and fill the trough. Would rather have some sort of training system for dinos than just another engram to build. But engram path would be way easier for devs.

Save and load the server when you're online? You'll prob have to find some mod to workaround that, doubt the devs have the time to spare right now.

Maybe try the refrigerated trough that some mods have (not sure which one)

Here's an idea... don't play a game that is meant to be something you actually work at on a day to day basis. Angry Birds or something. So many requests lately for "automated" crap. Fill the troughs...take care of the dinos you took in. Log on for five minutes a day even, to do it.

The whole thread is based on a false premise that dinos need to be *full* all the time. If you're not logged on the dinos will be in stasis. They eat very slowly when in stasis.

If you put a 100 meat in a trough and log out for a week it will be empty when you get back because 96 of it rotted and the 96 spoiled meat then just disappeared. Your dinos will be at about 80% food and a might peckish but definitely not dead.

So just top off your animals and log off, if it makes you feel better to fill the trough too go for it but most of it just spoils.
