Thermometer
Would be neat if we could have a device that shows the temperature around you. I realize it says the temp in our inventories but what I'm talking about is it tells the actual temp around you. The temp in the inventory doesn't take torches into account, if you are standing near one when it is on.

This will help when you are incubating eggs, and I like to breed, especially because it is tedious.

Press "H", look in the top-left corner.

That's the same thing as the inventory, that gives off the temperature if you aren't standing near flames. There is nothing telling me what the temperature is in a room with torches warming up an egg.

Air conditioner gives insulation if the value is above thousand then its good that has been mentioned in guides

It tells you the exact temperature inside the room? And not what it is outside, away from flames and any sort of heat source.

I just want a toggle H button, that gives me just the top left information like time and temp and area im in.
Because all this is saying is that the temp right now is 71 degrees, too cold for a Spino egg, yet it is incubating next to some lit torches. Which means inside this room is NOT 71 degrees like it says.

I think your all missing op's point, he wants a way to monitor the rooms temp remotely.

OP, the answer is that such remote observations will be able to be made with the tek tier, so there will be. Just not now.

She*

And that is cool. I hope they do make something along the lines. Ofc would need a fabricator for this but neat nonetheless.

you are missing the point right along with the rest. The op wants to know what the actual temperature is in the room she is standing in at that time. If you press H or look at the temp in your inventory it shows only the outside time, it does not take into account any heating affects from fires or torches. If I am standing in my house next to the fire, naked, and I am sweating it is warm. Yet looking at the thermometer currently in game it says the temperature is 0° because that is the outside temp, so I should be an ice cube... We want to know what the fire affected temperature is inside the house next to the fire where we are standing, not the outside temp.

I understand that, the current temp gauge is bugged it's supposed to factor insulation and heat sources, but it doesn't, it's bugged.

Really? Well, I hope they fix that sometime. I mean, it isn't the biggest of deals just something I would've liked it to say. If it was working properly, I wouldn't care about a thermometer, though it would still be nice.

Agreed. Even if it does mean learning an Engram to build a thermometer of some kind, we really do need a way to monitor the actual temperature including insulation and non-weather influences like torches. I'm currently in-game right now nursing a Carno egg on the floor, inside, beside two lit torches. I've learned that when the temperature displays as 12°C or less, I need to light a third torch. This isn't helpful though because I'd like to be able to anticipate when to light the torch by knowing the ideal temp for the egg (which I do, by having looked it up), and noticing when the current temp is dipping to the lower end of that spectrum, requiring a new heat source. It'll just save losing egg health needlessly.

The things you build be it air conditioners, fireplace, torch, do not change the tempature, they change your resistance to the temp. Knowing this to see how much of a buff you are getting strip down urself and not around anything that gives any insulation is your base value * non if you have 0 fortitude* then go near ur objects that gives you the insulation either hypo or hyper-thermic which is what matters, if you dont have enough of both you either freeze or cook,
7-8 air conditioners set in a U shape give up to 900ish insulation of both types, this is more than enough to cover any variences in egg hatching.
I have no problems now, saying for those that cannot get the air conditioners yet. If you hatch with torches, you NEED a thermometer because you are going to be constantly turning them on and off. Knowing the exact temperature with torches or campfire is a must. ACs you would also need to have some penguins too. At least, that's what my tribe does. We have two penguins in with the ACs.

Oh my god...

It's been bugged since 2015?! Ridiculous...
