Spider taming impossible due to Food bug. Same problem as gorillas had at first

Can you please fix that before the event is over, because at the moment even a level4/8 is almost impossible to tame since if they chase you even once, their food level goes too low and you can't tame em anymore. The progress resets

it's the same bug as it was when big gorillas came out and their food was not being replenished when you fed em berries.

tried with spoiled (preferred), raw meat and even dodo kibble. Still starved and reset the tame

Bump, This is annoying also same with bats once they aggro they seem to just keep on going!. Passive taming should be that, once you feed them once they shouldn't aggro or anything. You are giving them food! if you have more food to give it why are they getting p*ssed at you and slapping you in the face lol!.

I have tried boxing in a spider and leaving zone to de aggro, and it never loses aggro. super angry its broken. I use bug repellant, and spoiled meat and cant get more than one or 2 feeds before it aggors me and never drops it. please fix devs ! they are glitched same way monkeys were when first added.

2. If the spider starts to lose food grab a dodo and kill it near the spider, this seems to reset the food meter, but also your tame, but its better than losing the animal because it starves to death.

1. that only works on private servers, not official servers since there is alrady something built there. But built a 30x30 fenced in area where it can run around and not destroy the walls with the mounts outside.

2. nice idea, but this means i have to tame 20+ dodos just to feed to one spider. pve official server

just trap it. i picked one up, put it in my taming pen and then just carfully followed it around the small space till i tamed it. i almost made a small 4x4 stone fence wall around it but it decided to not move for a good while so i was able to tame it.

Wild dodos are everywhere, no need to tame anything to feed the spider. :)

both of you are on unofficial servers with either pvp on or wild animal pickup on, that aint the case in pve official servers.

i can trap one, i can feed him tamed dodos but that doesn't change the fact that their hunger system is not working as it should and is bugged. You can not tame a high level spider on official servers.

Watched Sl1pg8r doing this last night, they had an issue with boxing in where it never deagroes, you need to give the spider space - they tamed one perfectly fine once they'd de-boxed it.

sl1pg8r is playing on a server which has increased taming speed, aka you need less food -> less chance it will get too hungry and start to lose tame progress.

that is the problem. They lose taming progress since they starve, because they don't get food from the spoiled meat like they should.

in the hopes they might have fixed it in the current patch, tried taming a 20 spider again. He only chased me 4 times and managed to get him to 35% tamed and then he started losing taming fast. Dropped a dodo in the pen, did it again. Got to about 40% and then he started losing tame again.

gotta be on a private server with a 4x taming multiplier to tame spiders as it stands...

sooo... tried a level4 spider that was right next to the taming pen we built. Got him in, by the time it reached 40% taming it was already down to 45% food left and we dropped a lowbie dodo for it to eat.

ate the dodo and you could give him 1 meat only this time. It died of starvation


even a level 4 is impossible to tame, on the official servers as it currently stands...

please fix this.

I tamed a lvl 29 by building a metal box with 2 doorways and leading it into it and shutting the doors before it could escape, then eventually part of it was sticking through the door. I got it tamed and never had an issue with it starving or anything

again, 29 = private server, not official server.

on the official server they go up in incraments of 4

it is impossible to tame one, on the official server with default settings due to the food bug (like the gorillas had at first)
