Water in Farming
How long does it take for the 600 water in a large crop plot to run out?

Depends on the rain frequency.

Rain keeps it topped up at present no need to add anything more

Are you sure it will rain enough to keep them full?

You can connect to two water reservoirs which will store further water from rain, if you want to be save.

I've never run out of water in small crop plots so far (200 water). It depends entirely on how often it rains where you want to place them. Or it should, but so far, I have yet to find a place on the ARK where it doesen't rain regularly.

200 water is something else than 600 isn't it?

Yes, to be more specific, it's less than 600. So if I've never run out of water with 200 units, it's most likely that 600 units won't run out either under the same conditions regarding rain to refil them.

Water can be collected for a plot in two different ways: by hand, or by irrigation. Rain water will also fill the Crop plot automatically. In case of a small plots irrigation isn't necessary, after filling them with water to the maximum they'll stay watered from the rainfalls alone.

This is what it said on the forum. So i though it only counted for small crop plots and large crop plots which need more water would still drain.

Correct me if i am wrong, but is there not a desert or hot biome planned in the future?? If so then rainfall may be an issue in that biome, but until then rain is your farming friend.

Rain water is plenty. I never irrigate my species x turrets. If this is for crops, go medium. There's no benefit going from medium to large crop plot, they both hold the same amount of crops and the large takes more water, if you're worried about water.

I think it was intended that the ammount of fruits it can hold is limited by the size (which it would be if the inventory slots were a hard limit), but at the moment, there is no real advantage in having larger plots than you need for the plant.

I think we'll get a rework of the whole weather sdystem somewhere along the road. That will probably make the rain less reliable too.
