console command: cheat saveworld
I have the SavedArksLocal file bookmarked in my Quick Access. I created a folder in my Dropbox specifically for ARK Rescue. Every time I save I cloud back up a copy of the file manually. I have more than one monitor so I don't have to switch away from the game, which makes this a bit less of a pain in the butt. BUT unless I really want to go back and redo three hours worth of construction, I call it a worthwhile use of my time...
As for confirming whether or not the console command works, the date modified on the file changes if the save went through.
You necroed this to tell him the same thing someone else told him 5 years ago. Nice.
I have been looking for a good method to improve being able to restore world save points. I had my game crash after loading about 30 dinos into Tek Cave and the save world over-wrote to right before the crash. I was able to use an older file, but it put me back about 2 hours in prep work. This is probably the best method I've found yet to avoid those situations on big game moments.
Thank you!
If you don't have dropbox or just want to keep an archive of saves you can use batch code I wrote to zip the folder, date and time stamp in the file name and then move it to a subfolder. Only works in windows.
To use put the code in a text file and save it as a .bat file (make sure show extensions is on).
Step 1 zips the folder (batch file needs to be in the same directory as the saves
Step 2 extracts system date and time and puts them into variables then uses those variables to rename the zip file
Step 3 moves the zip file to a folder in the same directory I created called _Saves, but realistically you can move it anywhere.
Oh shut it already.
Whining about necro is the worst of the worst. The necro was actually helpful. You on the other hand are a waste of air.
.
Oh and sorry for the necroing, your pal in christ, Gnostromo
