How do i get pelts???

I want to make fur clothing to go over to get organic polymer but ill freeze to death and i dont know where to find pelt? Do i have to find a dire wolf and kill it??

First I would suggest reading the wiki. There's a lot of very helpful information on there, like what animals drop pelts and where you can find them outside of the snow.

To actually help you though yes Dire Wolves drop pelts. Mammoths have the best pelt rate, but elk, wolves, and the like also drop them.

Run along the border of the snow biome, and find mammoths or any of the creatures that drop pelt. Kill it, harvest the pelt, and run out of the snow biome and regenerate your health. Rinse and repeat.

I personally have never gotten pelt from a saber or argentavis. Are you sure they actually drop pelt? I've only ever gotten hide from them, and the wiki doesn't say they drop pelt.

Sabers drop hide never have I seen one drop a pelt. and I have killed and skined ALOT of them.

Kill mammoths and dire wolves, mammoths are "relatively" common on the mountains just north of centre map - considering they should only be in snow! :)

any northern mountain, i run a fairly new server, found mamoths on the top right mtn

Mammoths are the best source. Direwolves, not so much. (and they bite) Deer Worst. (if you can keep up)

well we are running a private modded server so i dont think it matters what animal we choose to skin because we still get alot of supplies from an animal because i skinned a deer with my metal hatchet and got 200 pelt now that i know and next ill work on taming a dire wolf and/or sabertooth.

i have to admit, i was disappointed to find out that a sabre a) didn't have massive teeth and b) didn't drop pelts
