Megaloceros any good?
I just spent a lot of effort taming a Megaloceros, but it seems pretty average. It doesn't even seem to be great at getting thatch. What are the general opinions of it?

Once you get it's attack power up over 1,000 it is great for getting thatch.

I like it. It can jump a lot and females are really fast. Imo it is a better battle mount than a sabertooth.

Once they add the bludgeoning horn charge attack, I'm sure it will fit into a more all-around role.

Its a decent mount, espically males can kill stuff with over 1k+ meele and they are very easy to tame with Dimorphodon kibbles. They are thatch monsters also.

They are fast and have good weight , that won me over .

i use the females a lot, I'm trying to tame higher stamina and weight ones to get a faster strain

a couple of them I keep at the volcano to help me haul stuff faster to the quetzals (which generaly end up overburdened halfway through)

I found that a high damage Ankylo beats the Megaloceros anytime at gathering thatch. However, the Megaloceros is faster, way faster, so if you reside in an area where trees are not packed, it would be better.
I usually take my 1500% damage ankylo to the swamp where trees are packed and make 10-15K thatch in 5 minutes.
The Female Megaloceros are great for carrying weight in caravas.

They should add the bleeding effect on the males attack sometime

it is very fast, does decent damage, and kinda gathers some thatch.
if you do it right, you can kill entire packs of sabers without receiving ANY damage!

I am looking for another high level one because I love the megaloceros. I prefer it for getting thatch over my bronto because of size and speed. It takes up much less room in my base. The more melee I put into it the more thatch it gets.

LOL! Everyone knows megaloceros is for role-playing Lord Thranduil.

I see everyone saying they're great for thatch. So would a 1000 melee mega beat a 1000 melee bronto on gathering thatch?

The great advantage of the Mageloceros here is that it only gathers thatch and wood, when it encumbers you stop and get rid of the few stacks wood while other dinos that also are quite good at "thatching" like the ankylo or giganto overburden quite fast with all the things they can harvest.

But generally I agree, the fastest way of making thatch is using a high damage ankylo that is carried by another player with a quetzal.
