The Bunk Bed
So let me see if I understand this new item correctly

For

80 × Polymer
200 × Pelt
320 × Metal Ingot
280 × Fiber
120 × Hide

I get a bed with half the respawn time.

When I could just build a few simple beds for

15 × Wood
80 × Thatch
30 × Fiber
40 × Hide

each?

Am I missing something here?

I'm playing on my own on an unofficial server and initially thought the resources required for industrial forge was way too much even at 4x gather.

Building one anyway because, it's an investment and I'll get good use out of it. I guess the same will be true for the cooker. It's a bit much, but 4x helps :steammocking:

Now, the bed however, takes more resources than a vault (I'm not saying increase the vault cost pls). The sole reason I'd get it is because it'd look better than the crap bed we have now. However, that's not worth the cost. I'll make do with the 4 beds I have thank you very much, or sleep in my vault.

Can we just have a better looking bed without the novelty of a reduced cooldown? Thanks.

Agree if you cheap keep the cheapo one, serriously end game gamers its a drop in the hat, I mean once you can farm mats to make or even think about industrial this is a joke I mean I can get the metal in one go with my ankyloo and parcer from my mining base. The pelt like 30 minutes with a wolves at same base, fiber put an ape on wander for same amount of time have thousands on it waiting for you, or use a sickle get it in under 4 minutes. Hide I got thousands of that on my t-rex just from feeding runs I am too lazy to put in cupboards or drop.

And lastly polymer got two easy options kill about 10 penquins beat them with a wooden club, or hit obsidian nodes while mining metal, and take a frog out to a swamp for 20 minutes and have cementing paste plus chitin you can grind up with stone from your armadilo.

You are really making this way harder then it has to be, if you at the metal age stage in this game and its not a big deal you cna still use your cheapo beds easily, but I started fresh on new server 3 weeks ago and I can already farm all of that in one day off for a few bunkbeds and really need like 3 could do that in about 4 hours with mats to spare I could use to make some more metal wall parts or somehting else lol.

Trust me if you find the cost of the industrial forge too steep you shouldn't be using it, it inhales metal ore it will literaly melt metal faster then you can gather it if you can't do 1k or more metal ore a trip, people I know who have them don't even turn it on till it has at least 2k becuase it feels like a waste of gasoline, if its less then that lol.

If you do it right, you can put in 600 metal in there, turn it on and it will be almost done by the time you put another 600 in it, using like 8 gasoline if you're bad at it, but more like 5.

But that's just it. You can spend 20 minutes on a frog, 30 minutes on a wolf, and about 10-20 on an ankylo for a bed. So that's just over an hour for something that has a near nonexistent benefit over the old bed. How often is someone dying that they really need that timer cut in half?

I can can take 5 minutes to fly to the nearest treeline, cut down a few trees, and use a scythe to get fiber and I can make 10 beds. 5 minutes for 10, or an hour for 1 at x2?
At least the forge, grill, and cooker take the place of many of their predecessors.
On top of the cost, it's level 60 and costs 28 EP!

Grill is the only balanced industrial thing tbh :/

80 polymer? isn't that enough to build a rocket launcher?

I love this game, and I love the devs.. but... Are they gettibg enough sleep lately, or are they just jamming in numbers and resources so they can tweak at a later stage?

It is just modern skin. Old bed look really strange in metal base. If you want cheap and ugly variant, keep old beds ;-)

Two thatch-beds, side-by-side, still look better than this thing. Who sleeps in a freaking bunk-bed?
People who want room for activities

My quetz's max weight is over 2.6k, I don't even bother unloading my anky and just drop it on nodes. I literally just did a run and brought back 2622 ore in one go in about 10 mins. (Apparently anky's weight doesn't translate fully and 4x gather.)

Still, it's a bit over the top. But like I said, it's probably fine, it's an investment that will cut down on my time spent waiting around for my ores to finish and less management required than the 10 stone forges I previously had. It will see plenty of use.

The cooker, is definitely too steep. It's not nearly going to see as much use as the forge. Yet that's what I'm currently getting metal for. It'll be convenient whenever I need to make a bunch of kibble, or quetzal kibble for sure. Even more so if that connecting to pipe thing is going to happen.

And then we have the bed...... lol.

Also, the argument that once you got a good metal ingot train going and several people, that the cost is negligible and wouldn't take any effort at all, is pointless. If it doesn't matter it costs this much, would it not also not matter if it didn't? Why make it take an absurd amount of resources that makes no sense compared to other stuff? Why make it costly if there's not that much value in the benefit?

What's next? A person sized door that automatically opens and closes as you approach/leave costing 1k metal ingots amongst a plethora of other things, because it's the next new thing down the line in progression? Rather than a reasonable estimate of how much it'd be compared to other things?
Having things cost more just for the sake of it is dumb.
