[Question] Any reason for Stego once Ankylo?

hi,
I was initially under the impression that you need the Stego for berry farming and the Ankylo for metal but now that I tamed one Ankylo it turned out that it can farm everything including berries and trees what raises the question if the Ankylo makes the Stego obsolete or not?

Yeah there is a cap for the nodes you can get all the berrie pickers to hit it, granted I am not ure the ratio for an anklyo to get them compared to others I cram attack power like mad on mine but I want max metal per node then its all going weight for her, but the stego and the bronto have higher base damage I think the gathering is based on that scale, the bronto tail swip is on par with the t-rexes bite for instance, and the stego does more base damage then the trike.

Even a parcer can get berries, but its just god awfull at it so ithink each one has its own ratio but it is factored in by their attack power that is for a fact. Also a mamath can gather berries really good while harvesting wood, I actualy get most my berries from that when building in the base, unless making narc in bulk then its bronto time.

I actually usemy trikes believe it or not. Trikes are great stun lockers, they can take down an Alpha quite easily plus people underestimate them in a herd

The advantage is that you can carry an anklyo on a quetzal while someone is gathering berries on it. You can do this also with a stego, but the stego's attack is too slow to farm efficiently. The ankylo tailswipe is a little faster than the stego's attack, and the ankylos front attack is even quicker.
You could also quetzal-farm berries with a mammoth, there the problem is that the inventory gets quickly clogged by wood. And the giganto's AE is too small to make it a good quetzal-farmer.

Stegos farm berries faster and have a much higher carry weight. Can use it for a crappy pack mule (Paras and Mammoths are much better beasts of burden). Plus Argent kibble is always useful.

Stego is one of the first dinos released with the game. They said that the original first pass dinos will get a makeover at somepoint i'm sure it'll be given a better role then. Also I think they have a wider damage area so might be better for gathering thatch than an anklyo.

I don't see the point of even taming a stego myself. I just used prime meat on my argents and I use my anky to get berries. It has over 1k melee, so it does fine getting berries. Probably makes a difference that my herd is pretty low on herbivores, so I don't really need many berries other than what I already get from my crops for kibble.

Yup, but that's pretty much all they do unless you want the kibble. My anky can get berries, metal, stone and flint. If I had to choose one, I'd pick the anky all day every day.

Maybe it's because I play on official servers, but taming a stego just isn't worth it when the only thing you use them for is berries. You're much better off getting something like an anky that has multiple uses. My time is much better spent that way.

Like my bronto? One swipe at 1000% damage = 5000 Berries at once? Man, gratulations to that stego :D

I get less on my bronto with 1000%. There myst be ton of bush where you live....

Yeah, my bronto lives in a berry patch. I never move him away from there. Its not even close to my base, transporting the berries home with 574397594679 weight quetz.
