No, unfortunately you do not.

Press N when you have the tracker equiped and select a 4 digit channel, think like a pin code, that way only those who KNOW the channel can find the dinos.
Same thing with radios, you can change the channel there too and only those who know the channel can listen in and talk on it. Great for using the voice comms from a distance and not worrying about the wrong people listening in.
You're right, of course, which is why I made the video. I do believe there is a bug in the transponder system, because it will often show transponder hits in the wrong places if you have several dinos on the same frequency. I have been slowly transitioning to a different frequency for each dino.

Yeah they made them expensive on purpose, and they built in some limitations on purpose. The thing is, when you have dinos disappearing due to game bugs ( and I don't mean Meganeura ), then I see the transponders as being necessary.
