Turkey Trial event is not for new players. =(

I thought the reason games had events like this was to attract new players, entice old players to come back, and get current players to invite their friends. But, being a new player myself, these turkeys are impossible to kill and attacking them aggros all the larger creatures around.
I even cornered one into a pen made of wooden spikes then tried to throw spears at it. That didn’t work, but did kill a brontosaurus and triceratops that were trying to attack me but they kept running into the fence.
What I understand is that you need to collect 60 wishbones and make a smithy to create the hat. First, I haven’t even seen the Smithy Engram yet. Second, the danger involved in finding 60 turkeys, let alone killing them, just to get one hat make this task impossible for new players like me in 4 days.
And let’s not start with DodoRex which supposedly requires 1000 Wishbones, a new cooking pot and then only last 15 minutes when summoned. Talk about flash in the pan.

Probably for higher level players with big tribes, turkey hunting is easy, but for a newb like me, I feel left out.

It's been stated a lot but use a pike to kill turkeys.

You can't kill them because they have higher Hp regen than you can ever do with guns/other weapons. Get a full damage rex or a giganoto and it's easy. So yea it is for more late game oriented tribes

a 1800% melee trex couldnt kill a lvl 56 turkey. but me using a pike could kill one
So its now about how much damage you do each hit. Its about hitting the turkey fast

1800 damage rex is like standard dmg if I wanna make a tanky rex 50 k ish. I'm talking about two 246 rexs bred or a giga

Problem is I'm not high enough to even see the pike engram.
I guess 20 hours doesn't make you desrving enough for their events.
Doesn't seem fair.

Why do turkeys have this much health? You would think they'd be more like dodos..

Really really unfortunate, kind of dissapointed. I guess I'll just enjoy their beauty from afar. ^-^

If you started playing WoW today, you couldn't completed all their holiday events either. Just focus on levelling, and there's always next year. It's just part of the territory in any game with RPG elements.

even if you are, the time involved alone means dont bother

I don´t care for the event either. The time needed to get the hat makes it not worth it. At least it´s just a hat of feathers..too much grind for such a small useless item ^^
