Multiplayer Unofficial Server accessible in offline mode?
So, I've done as much work as I can, I think, to try and get my own Private Server hosted and accessible via those who wish to play Steam in Offline Mode.

Server can be seen in the Ark Server list, but upon joining, it fails to connect.

I've read many posts about Server creation, and a few here and there on trying to host one for Offline Mode, but can't really find any conclusive answers. Some say it's possible. Other's say it's not and that Multiplayer Servers were meant to be seen and accessed by those who are considered "Online", by Steam.

In the FAQ, it does say this:

"Will the game have a Multi-player mode?

The game is both online Multi-player (with persistent official and custom player-hosted servers), and with a Local Single-player option as well."

That kind of makes me believe there is no way to host a Private Server, connected to a router that has no Internet, where computers can connect to same router to play Offline.

Am I wrong in believing that's exactly what they meant? If so, then I can just chalk everything up to "It's just not supported" and stop and just stop.

okay i'm really confused.. so you want an offline server (which is no problem, just host one via ark server manager for example and choose your local IP) but you want other people to join???

Yeah it's a little confusing, why does it have to be offline mode?

I believe he is trying to host a LAN server, not a WAN server.

Correct. There will be people playing that cannot have access to the Internet. Therefore, a LAN server.

So people that are local to you?

Correct. Local to me. They will be connecting to the same router the Server is on (which again, to remind you, will not have Internet).

But if they can already connect to the router then surely they can connect to the game?

AS long as they can still connect to their steam in offline mode you can run a server on your local network and in theory should still be playable.

That's what I thought, but it doesn't seem to work. The Server and the Game clients are on the same version, and the Server does show up in the Ark Server list. Just unable to join.

I'm hoping that's correct and that there's just something I'm missing. Please note that nothing changes when I move the Computer, which the Server is on, from one Router (no Internet, and henceforth will be named Router B) to another Router (Internet, and henceforth will be named Router A), except for the IP address.

In both instances, the second Computer, which is currently being used to test the joinability of my Server, can connect to the Ark Private Server if, the Computer it's on, has Internet. When the Ark Server and the second Computer moves to the Router that doesn't have Internet, the second Computer can see the server, but cannot join.

Just to test, I put both Steam clients in Offline mode. Then moved them to the router that has no Internet. On the second Computer I can see the Server listed within Steam's Server list, however, when I join the Server from there it comes back with this error: "Unable to query server info for invite."

When I try to join the Ark Server from the Ark server list, I get: "Lost/timeout pending connection to host."

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Because Router B is not connected to the internet, I have Wireless turned off. Everything is hardwired. I have the Router Firewall turned off and have even put the Server Computer's IP address outside the DMZ.

Just to be extra sure, I have enabled port forwarding for the default specific ports Ark uses.

So I've gone back and disabled the Firewall on both computers, but still no dice. I'm starting to suspect that this isn't doable.

Just set Up a Server (via ark Server Manager for example). Allow the shootergame.exe in your Firewall (ark Server Manager would Check this especially). Then You and Others connected with your Router join the Server with your local ip. Try the steam Server Browser First Or join the Server yourself and invite the Other People. I've Done it before, it's not Hard to Make a Local Server
