Well i have not even close to an alienare pc but i wait like 1-2 minutes before moving right when i connect and let the world buffer out, or if it does it pretty bad it might be server ping or just your on a bad server i found a few like that.
Should've ♥♥♥♥♥♥ titan x's instead of a 980. This game requires the best of the best.
update software on that pc,direct x,graphics drivers etc and make sure its using the dedicated GTX980 graphics card and not the one built into the motherboard.Do you have the same issue with other graphics intensive games?
your pc should run the game on epic with high fps. sure it´s the game not the server lagging or your connection?
1) You just wasted alot of money buying an overpriced Dell
2) I'm guessing you just picked the highest cost parts
3) Ark is notorious for eating high end systems as it isn't optimised

I suggest you do a security scan. sounds like you may have malware eating away at your resources.
running an alienware, i7 4820k, 32gb sys ram, gtx 780 4gb ram, on all epic save shadows... runs completely fine.
First off, "Alienware PC" means nothing special. It's simply (sometimes subpar) gaming components in a fancy case. The only thing that tells us is that you have more money than technical knowhow.

I will admit that there is something definitely wrong there. It should run excellent on the lowest settings with that hardware - probably more realistically, excellent on medium settings.

If everything is kosher with your hardware - no failing memory blocks, etc, then I suggest digging into the harddrive. You should have 10-15% free space on a HDD. Also, if you've never defragmented, then you need to do that as well.

I would also suggest getting rid of the bloatware fancy applications that come with Alienware PCs - if you're running them. You don't need a pretty gauge dock and a fancy desktop if you're looking for performance. Those things run in the background and siphon off clock cycles and memory - especially in a very demanding game like ARK.

No .1 is 100% true. I feel bad for people that buy a name and dont spend a bit of time doing research when spending $1000 or more for a pc.

There are several guides for improving FPS and game play. I have a 4770k and a gtx 770, and the game runs beautiful and over 60 fps. I run a few settings at high the rest at medium. It is still being optimized, but 5 minutes doing a bit of research on how to set up or optimize your pc will beneift you greatly. Here's the link to some FPS settings and tips. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=475747492

best advice i can give, and do to any friend/client that got schlumped into purchasing an OEM computer (sorry, its a Dell wearing a name they bought it) is to wipe the drive and reload windows using your OEM serial key and the iso from Microsoft. every machine i have ever done in this way always performs better, and its the only way to be sure all of their OEM garbage software is totally gone. research your motherboards specs and if possible find the drivers from the manufacturers instead of from Dell.

aside from that you have plenty of machine to run Ark very well. there is definitely something wrong, and although Ark isnt fully optimized yet i highly doubt its the game. make sure it isnt the things already mentioned---if none of those straighten it out, windows runs its best when fresh....

nonsense....

1) That card is way too expensive,
2) Even my AMD Radeon HD 6900 works fine with the game
Do you have a sdd or did you cheap out on the hard drive

Well if you have still the Dell standard installation on it, you might want to checkout if you a victim of this http://www.techweekeurope.co.uk/security/firewall/superfish-like-rogue-certificates-found-pre-installed-dell-pcs-181034

The titan is a waste of money unless you truely need that extra vram, even a 980TI outperforms it.

Going to a ssd from a hdd will only increase load times as long as the rest of your hardware is adequete. The only time you'll see serious hdd activity is during loads and if your computer is page filing from a lack of ram. Since the OP has 32gb, that's not an issue.

Something seriously wrong here. I run an i7-4770, 16Gb and 970 and I run 35-45 on epic. If I come back to med/high mix I cap 60 all day (except when flying into new territory but I'm HDD loading atm).
